In my opinion the Star Wars franchise had been on a gradual decline and was not attracting enough new followers. Enter the Mandalorian, a simple tale about a latter day High Plains Drifter and a cute baby Yoda. It's been the star of the Disney+ network and probably set the network apart from the boring bunch of new streaming services. I liked the Mandalorian and I'm sad that it may not have a season three.

January 11, 20215 yr The Mandalorian has in recent years been the only really decent stab at a Star Wars production. Everything else since 1983's Return of the Jedi has been a fairly awful downward slide as the stewards of the IP have repeatedly attempted to nostalgically reheat a souffle - whilst simultaneously trying to ram in an agenda - instead of remembering what it was which made the original movies so good in the first place. From the moving toy catalogue that was the prequel episodes 1-3, to the Mary Sue-laden claptrap of the more recent big screen efforts, there's been ironically precious-little stellar about Star Wars. It's certainly not been helped by Kathleen Kennedy's preposterous tenure, where decent story-telling, creativity and just plain old fun, has taken a back seat to a shoehorned-in PC agenda, resulting in a largely embarrassing display of second rate films in pretty much every regard. Many of these have been box-office disappointments with regard to critical acclaim as well as financial reward - this is in itself something of a dubious achievement given how many people are fans of the franchise. It's quite telling that The Mandalorian - popular with viewers and financially successful - was nothing much to do with Kathleen Kennedy from from a creative standpoint. Fans of film and TV can only hope that this is a trend which will continue. Edited January 11, 20215 yr by Chock Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

What has happened is the next generation is not buying any of it. I ask my kids what they want for Christmas and you know what they don't want??? Anything Star Wars. How could you take a franchise that practically sells itself and run it into the ground like that. The losses in merchandising is in the billions at this point, that is the bigger economic loss compared to movie ticket sales. True the Mandalorian brings back some of the nostalgic, nice touch was the K79-S80 Imperial Troop Transport, I had that toy when I was a kid and that vehicle was never in a film, I nearly fell off my chair when I saw one of those pull up in the show. It is awesome to see new life in these nostalgic items once again. Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
January 11, 20215 yr Author The latest Star Wars movie trilogy has so much wrong with it that I would not know where to start if I could be bothered to waste the time and energy providing a list. Ironically, the Force Awakens is OK (and the trailer for that movie actually made me cry), but the other two are awful. The return of Palpatine for the final movie was a massive cop out, and the number of ships in the final battle looked ridiculous. When this was done in Return of the Jedi back in 1983, it looked entirely convincing and realistic. In The Last Jedi, it looked like someone had taken a photo of a few ships, pressed COPY on his PC, and then left it running far longer than it should have been. It looked rubbish. In my opinion, the best Star Wars movie since Return of the Jedi is Rogue One. Maybe it's because it included Darth Vader, Grand Moff Tarkin, the Death Star, a whiff of 1970s era Star Wars atmosphere, and (finally) a half decent space battle? I am not really sure, but it reminded me a lot more of how I felt when I walked out of Guildford cinema way back in 1977 than anything else to date. January 11, 20215 yr The Mandalorian season 3 is officially happening – but the release date might be a little bit further out than expected. January 17, 20215 yr Actaully, they have started building the sets for the new Obi Wan series. In a UK quarry. Little Marlow in Buckinghamshire is the village. Villagers aren't happy. I'd love it, a Star Wars town being built in a local quarry... perfection!
