January 28, 20215 yr Nice thing about Youtube you can speed up videos and see them faster. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. January 29, 20215 yr But in the 30's and 40's, no on-board weather radar and no GPS navigation until the 90's. Trans-oceanic travel was even more challenging back then. They did however have many more weather ships along the route which could be used to get a better idea of the weather ahead, as well as using them with their DF loop to help with radio navigation. January 30, 20215 yr I think this is it at Duxford (UK) at the other end of the trip. I had seen only one DC3 or C 47 in real life until that day when they were everywhere. Wonderful.
January 30, 20215 yr I'll never get tired of looking at the DC-3, it's just the most beautiful aeroplane ever. Talk about 'if it looks right...' Edited January 30, 20215 yr by Chock Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
January 30, 20215 yr I was lucky enough to fly a 150 nm route in a DC3 and in a C47 in the 70s in Indochina. Great experience. Now, crossing the Atlantic ? Maybe not 😄... January 30, 20215 yr Author Apparently American Airlines called their first purchase fleet "Flagship Skysleepers". (I wonder if they provided earplugs at night). 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. January 31, 20215 yr Really nice plane! Okay, some of the equipment/avionics is modern but I guess the sound of the engines and the overall impression while looking out the window is the same as 1930's-40's, must be a great experience. Nice to get an impression of how spacious it feels inside.

January 31, 20215 yr Only 800 grand or around 5k a month, that cheap?! Just kidding. Oh well. Maybe if I had that kind of money I'd get a somewhat cheapish jet: https://www.controller.com/listing/for-sale/167548173/1985-cessna-citation-sii-jet-aircraft Plus I think the costs of keeping it and mainting it would be kind of hard.

Funny you chose an S550 for a personal aircraft...that is the other model aircraft that RR owns (N33610), and apparently, routinely flies. http://www.aviationdb.com/Aviation/Aircraft/3/N33610.shtm
January 31, 20215 yr Oh wow. Totally random. I think the DC-3 seems more comfortable and overall nicer, but if I had the money, I guess I'd go for the speed, and it must be lots of fun flying smaller jets as well.
