January 31, 20215 yr Hey, As the title says... for me it looks like it doesn't work properly. Northern germany is covered in snow now for several days and in the sim snow is nowhere to be seen. When they add such a function in the sim, why don't they get it to work as promised? Disappointed. January 31, 20215 yr The simulator uses this map from Meteoblue for snowfall depths. However at this time, it will only inject snow into the simulator when the depths are 0.9 ft or 27 centimeters in depth. At least that is the information I have gathered from discussions about this. That is way too much accumulation before being shown in the simulator in my opinion, yes. Hopefully in the future they will fix that. Is it done yet? When will it be released? Will it be freeware or payware? How much will it cost? Any updates on the progress? Will it work for Xbox? Can I be a beta tester? How's the performance in VR?

January 31, 20215 yr Not here this morning. This is my home airport of KESN, Easton-Newnan, in Easton, Maryland, USA. (I apologize that the buildings are like melted crayons). I waited for 10 minutes to see if live weather would produce the snow that is indeed falling at this time. In contrast, the second shot below is using Rex Weather Force. Rex WF is matching live conditions quite well. MSFS live weather. Also way too dark for this time of day and present conditions. MSFS live weather also continues to considerably over-darken the environment based on overcast conditions, that not just for today. With REX WF. Snow has started. No accumulation yet matches live conditions here. Hard to catch snow flakes in an image but you can see the streaks against the grass at the right and based on the snow between the airport and the distant trees. I can also hear the snow hitting the 172. To clarify...real weather itself works great on my end too. Even snow. But the depiction of that "live" snow coverage is off. January 31, 20215 yr Yes my experience has been that the live snow function (speaking about snow on the ground, not snow falling) under-represents snow coverage. In areas where there is definitely full snow coverage in real life, but the snow is not overly deep, it shows traces of snow. I flew from Moncton (CYQM) to Bathurst (CZBF) and there was only traces of snow in Moncton, the snow coverage gradually increased as I flew north. By the time I reached Bathurst the ground was completely covered. While it is true that there is more snow on the ground in Bathurst than Moncton, both should have had full ground coverage. Hopefully this is something they can easily tweak. Now the issue of snow covered runways and roads is the other thing I hope we’ll see tweaked going forward... I am flying exclusively GA and at GA speeds (mostly under 200 IAS) I have seen zero instant changes aside from when it first loads after starting the Rex WF synthesis. January 31, 20215 yr Okay. Here is a shot less than 30 minutes later and this is matching what is going on exactly. Sorry. This live photo was shot through a window screen. My system specs are in my message footer below. I'd say its 80% IFR in the Longitude and 20% VFR/IFR in the Mooney. With REX i am usually missing the different weather systems and the smooth transitions between them. So i am sticking to the stock weather at the moment as it is working quite good. January 31, 20215 yr I just checked the weather at enva, and I have actual snow flakes falling in the sim. Not much. But it's a start. Edited January 31, 20215 yr by Ricardo41

Is that Asobo or Rex? Has Rex improved its bugs. You had the injection issue and crazy FPS drops but also linear cloud coverage? Edited January 31, 20215 yr by knich
January 31, 20215 yr I did Dallas to Chicago last night and the weather was stunning descending into Chicago, and as I broke through the clouds the ground was covered with snow and it was lightly snowing. The runways at o'hare were covered with snow too, but the lack of dynamic lighting at asobo airports made it hard to see.
