As a total aside, I never realised that protective enclosures for collectors edition/rare baseball caps was a thing! My wife found them for me, and it's completely possible that the pic makes them look nicer than they are. But they do protect the hats (that may, or may not, have value someday and lets me display them without worrying about mundane things like dust or whatever. For the Buc's ones, I made here get me two of each, one to wear, and one to display for the long term. I wish I had done so the last time they won the SB, but I just bought one of each, and I wore them, and as a result, they're now destroyed. I suppose I should check on ebay to see if new ones are available at sane prices, yeah it's been almost 20 years, but it's also true that they probably literally made millions of them, and I'm sure quite a few of them still exist in pristine condition.
February 11, 20215 yr I'm glad you got it sorted, even though you had to buy a lot of stuff again. I've been reading this thread for a while now, because I had another issue with MSFS that I thought maybe could be the same. It wasn't, and I have sorted the issue I had at the same time. Just happy to see you sorted it. 🙂 Edit: Is it possible add "solution" or similar to the title of the thread so that others with the same problem could find it? I understand that kevykev has solved his problem, but having to rebuy all his licences again is not really a solution and putting "solved" in the title is to my mind, somewhat of a misnomer. MSFS, Zendesk, kevykev and the community have not solved this problem at all,. kevykev has, at considerable expense, both financial and time wise, executed a work around which is very, very different to a "solution" Personally, whilst I am very happy with this sim, I am somewhat appalled by Microsoft enforcing a repurchase if that was the final outcome. He found out where the problem lies after testing all sorts of things. There's value to what he found out, even though it's not fully "solved". And that value could help others struggling with the same thing. February 11, 20215 yr Although the Bravo TQS is setup for dual engines, by making a new profile you can set up alternate axis assignments for single engine planes. And then switch profiles back and forth depending on what you fly. This would allow using 2 unused levers in that particular profile (i.e. a single engine profile) for elevation trim and rudder trim. For rudder trim just assign the rudder itself (not rudder trim) to a lever axis. You then have 2 rudder axis controls. The floor pedals for the rudder and the lever for 'trim' (its actually just another rudder axis but will work wonderfully well as a rudder trim). 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Hey @Fielder, I think you posted to the wrong thread lol... @Republic3D, @himmelhorse, I totally see what you both are saying, and although my problem IS solved, the true source of what happened and why was never really identified. From my perspective, I just tried firing up the sim one day and it started crashing at the time it seemed to be accessing my gamertag records, though just figuring that part out took quite some time. Unfortunately the ultimate solution was just biting the bullet and buying the game and my addons (at least some of them) from scratch, neither I nor anyone else can really say why it started crashing in the first place was never identified. One of them the xbox support reps thought it might have had something to do with my gamertag being corrupted in some manner on my physical XBox, and while I can't discount that, I also can't say that if I had just gotten the $1 for 3 months of game pass at the very beginning, and gone from there (which ended up of course with just rebuying stuff), that "solution" would have worked just fine, regardless of what we did on my XBox, which was to delete and re-add my gamertag. The whole thing remains a mystery, and likely always will be unless it starts happening to other people en masse. As angry as having to repurchase licenses I already owned (at least in theory) made and makes me, I decided it was better than spending who knows how many more hours, days, and maybe weeks trying to solve the underlying problem. But I sure am curious about it.
February 13, 20215 yr I presume the refusal to transfer stuff between accounts is some sort of policy to prevent people reselling addons they are bored with . Steam would do the same if you wanted to transfer DLC or games between Steam accounts, though with steam the workaround would be to "share" your content between the accounts. Ideally, Microsoft need a way you can completely close an Xbox account and move all it's purchased content to a new one however I suppose the issue there would be people selling entire accounts.
February 13, 20215 yr Can I make a suggestion that bailed me out once with MSFS2020 already. This won't get anything back from your previous install, but now that you have it running well.... You mentioned control panel.. under the control panel app for windows 10 is Backup and Restore (Windows 7). Create a system image for your operating system drive and drive where your MSFS is installed. (my addons/community folder stuff is on a separate drive so I don't include that, but you could if you wanted to...) I use an external USB HD as the target, and at the end create a system repair disc (you only have to do that the first time.) About once a week, before heading off to bed, I create a system image (just save it over the last one, etc...) If you have a terminal windows issue, or a terminal MSFS issue, simply bring back the system image and it is as if nothing broke, your good to go. I've done it once with MSFS when all other remedies wouldn't fix it. Its quick and easy, and I run it when I'm off the computer for the night. Ounce of prevention.....
February 14, 20215 yr Honestly this is totally unacceptable. This corruption of the online profile could happen to any of us at any time, locking people out of 100s or 1000s of dollars of addons they have purchased. There must be an officially approved method to reset whatever is messed up server side. We can't all live in fear of the day some bit gets flipped between our PC and the backend and permanently locks us out of our purchased content. If that is the case, a few higher profile instances of this will drive people away from MSFS as a platform (at least as far as buying addons). Jorg Neumann has given out his email address in a couple of Dev Q&A. I would write a clear and concise summary of this and email it directly to him. Go straight to the top. Someone reads the emails that go to that account, based comments from past Q&As. If you go straight to the top and get nothing I'd be very interested in that result as well. This may also run afoul of consumer protection laws depending on what part of the world you live in. You've conclusively shown the problem is not with your hardware, which means the sim is in some sense not fit for purpose. February 14, 20215 yr Hello. Sorry I found this topic right now thru link from official MSFS forum. I have had exactly the same issue (crash after the copyright screen) few days ago. But i solved it without reinstalling or (OMG) re-buying the whole simluator. My 120,- € Steam copy works again. The problem lies in corrupted profile file in SteamCloud service which is downloaded from Steam server everytime you start a simulator. This corrupted file rewrite local profile and cause crash on startup. Solution is: completly (globaly) disable Steam Cloud service and then rid off corrupted profile file from local directory. Simulator create a new clean profile on startup and works again. Profile file is stored separatedly from installation in Steam/Userdata folder (I dont remember the codenumber of MSFS directory as I am not on my PC right now). Path is: .../Steam/Userdata/NUMBEROFUSER/CODENUMBERMSFS/Remote/. Delete all files there except controlers profiles. I didnt try to enable Steam Cloud service after this "fix". Dont know if it would works again. (sorry for my English, is not my native language)

I had (and attempted to use) full backups of all the FS2020 files. I didn't go so far as doing an entire system image restore (maybe I should have, but that horse has left the barn), but I did try restoring ALL the MSFS files, including the ones they have in Program Files, and the bulk of the files they "hide" in AppData (that an uninstall doesn't even uninstall). I tried using both sets of files, and then one of each group by themselves, with no results. It was a very good suggestion, and I'm downright shocked at the number of people who don't do regular backups. Mine are daily, incremental, and keep images of every day for 2 weeks (I think) then weekly, monthly, and annual images for a timeframe I don't remember. One thing that both gives me security and pause is the fact that 90% of my files with OneDrive as of this moment, live ONLY at OneDrive. I don't even know what I'm backing up to my NAS, as what appears on my hard drive is just a pointer of sorts to OneDrive. All I have to do to trigger a download is double click on that pointer, or I suppose I could manually trigger a download of everything, but not chewing up all that space on files I haven't touched in some cases in YEARS while still having them available for use in near realtime is nice! So what happens if my OneDrive gets accidentally (or maliciously) deleted? Are my backups of any use at all, or is everything just gone? I have no answers to those questions. Anyway, a long winded answer to a pretty short question or rather suggestion. I have a tendency to do that, I think it's called blabbermouth syndrome lol...

The bad news is that it took me just having to rebuy everything from scratch to make it happen. But hopefully if someone has a similar problem, they'll stumble across this and your information might be able to help them before they have to resort to doing what I did. Thank you!
