How's the Navigraph beta now?

Featured Replies

No Navigraph says its a bug in MSFS. If the runways do not match Navdata MSFS ignores the stars or something like that. I believe if you load an airport with proper runways before the Navigraph data is loaded It will show the stars.

Not sure how that works or even if thats the correct description of the problem. Anyway Im sure there are other airports that have the same problem

Anytime you are missing data from an airport my advice is try loading without Navigraph and see if that solves the problem

Regards

Sounds similar to the LEBL issue where the sim itself only has 2 runways although there are 3 and NG data allowed me to select it in the MCDU but the ILS never managed to line up.

Im not sure but with KORD its either all or nothing. At least for star arrivals

From my perspective I don't find any benefits from Navigraph any more. My biggest issue that I hoped Navigraph would fix was the bugs related to STARs in default, but unfortunately it doesnt fix them (deleting waypoints, skipping straight to runway etc). The only addon that fixes those bugs are the custom cdu nav code in the CJ4 from WT, and it can use navigraph or default equally.

However, I am also managing a bushflying group in South America, and I am responsible for making flightplans for every trip. If I use Navigraph data while flight planning (ie, in Littlenavmap) then everyone else who hasn't updated will end up having big problems with the flight plan.

I haven't had any big issues with using default, and the smaller ones I can live with (ie that the current published star would be LEMON3A but in the sim it would show as LEMON2A).

This using the FBW Airbus?   I have that problem currently as well but that's not due to NG, it's a known bug in the mod currently and the behaviour afaik is the same using the default data.

I had one CTD around beta 10 but no problems since.

I tried out Navigraph extensively for a month, and also didn't find many benefits. For my. to be sure, limited needs, the default flight planner does the job just fine. For more extensive flight planning there is always LittleNavMap. Fuel planning I do in Simbrief, also free.

This is not a problem related to any mod. It is due to the simulators inner workings, and only by using your own custom navigation system (like the CJ4 from WT) can you overcome this. FBW has said they work now to implement the system from CJ4 but it is still in the works.

The Navigraph dev team have confirmed they cannot solve this issue, and have left the development of the solution to Asobo.

For folks not using Navigraph, is there a moving map and charts option for NAVBLUE that contains all of the features in the Navigraph Charts app that can also be run on a separate device? To me, the charts overlay in the Navigraph app is worth the price of the membership alone.

And back to my previous statement, how can you use Simbrief without using Navigraph if Simbrief doesn't have a NAVBLUE option?

The charts are kind of important, and you can't fly the procedures if you don't have them, especially when the CDU doesn't contain speed/altitude constraints.

MSFS Premium Deluxe Edition; Windows 11 Pro, I9-9900k; Asus Maximus XI Hero; Asus TUF RTX3080TI; 32GB G.Skill Ripjaw DDR4 3600; 2X Samsung 1TB 970EVO; NZXT Kraken X63; Seasonic Prime PX-1000, LG 48" C1 Series OLED, Honeycomb Yoke & TQ, CH Rudder Pedals, Logitech G13 Gamepad

The current version of the beta is stable for me. I fly mostly piston props in smaller airports and Navigraph has a much more complete DB of approaches.

I also like that I can have a sycned DB between MSFS, Pilot2ATC, and SimBrief.

I could get all that with just the NavData subscription but the worldwide Jeppesen charts and associated app are worth the extra price to me.

Navigraph also has said they are working on a VFR charts product. I'm looking forward to that.

Now if only they would put weather in their charts app. 😉

The FBW mod uses the default Asobo Navdata. Check the options in the FMC. There is no Navigraph option!

When Navigraph is present, it overrides the default sim nav data, so any aircraft that accesses nav data will be using Navigraph automatically.

NavBlue charts are supposed to be coming to MSFS eventually, but no idea just when. When they do, I assume there will be some sort of app to overlay current aircraft position on the charts.

At the present time, if you wanted to use NavBlue charts, you would have to purchase one of their chart subscriptions for real-world aviation use, which would be horrendously expensive for flight simulation.
