How's the Navigraph beta now?

Featured Replies

Been subscribed to Navigraph since August, but haven't tried the beta for MSFS yet as I know it originally had some issues like causing CTD's or double runways in some cases etc.  Just wondering how it's doing now as I'm thinking of installing the beta to try it out.

I don't have any issues with it, seems to work just fine.

Is it done yet? When will it be released? Will it be freeware or payware? How much will it cost? Any updates on the progress? Will it work for Xbox? Can I be a beta tester? How's the performance in VR?

Yeah the waypoints, SIDS, STARS, approaches, etc. will match in the sim what's available in the Navigraph Charts app when planning flights.

I'm still getting differences using the FBWNeo, and I'm not sure what the issue is. I know they suggest that we shouldn't use Navigraph, but I'm not sure why there would be an issue.

I'm planning in Simbrief, and importing the plan into the CDU and into the charts APP. Once the plan is loaded in the CDU, my expectation is the waypoints would be exactly the same as they are in the charts APP, but that's not always the case, especially when I add the arrival/approach. I'd report this stuff, but when I get a chance to fly, I spend that time flying, not user testing.

The FBW team is working on fixing this.  I'm assuming it will be a part of their custom AP when its released.

If I remember on November Q&A, Asobo said that the new AIRAC cycle will be release much quicker than before, it was very late on December and it's nearly 2 weeks late now...

I couldn't fly without it anymore tbh, been using the beta since November.  I personally never had an issue with the FBW Neo nor the CJ4 which pretty much are the main types of planes where the data matters in my flying when it comes to planning, having said that I still use it for GA flying and charts/moving map or going old style and identifying waypoints without the moving map turned on (admittedly you don't need NG for the latter).

Nicely matches up with Simbrief and STKP and so far I personally have never had an issue of things not lining up, the only times I had issues was due to the actual default airport not having data to begin with or the add on airport having some alignment issue.  The issues I reported to NG with ILS so far have always been checked by them and verified to not be related to their data, iaw the same happened with the default data.  I couldn't recommend it more.

I always found it quite weird that NG doesn't advertise the fact that you can trial their program, even though it only has 2 airports you can use it gives you an excellent idea of it is functionality and once I saw that functionality of overlaying charts on a live tracking map this was a must have.

The FBW mod uses the default Asobo Navdata. Check the options in the FMC. There is no Navigraph option!

Sure it does though, when using the NG beta it will replace the navblue data with the NG data within the sim so it would thereby use the NG data.  If not I'm sure I would have had non stop mismatches between the FMC data/STKP/Simbrief and NG planning.  No need to 'select' it specifically.

And the other issue is Simbrief isn't using, and can't use NAVBLUE data. This makes it impossible to flightplan with Simbrief and have the plan show up properly in the CDU unless you are using Navigraph and the FBW CDU is using it as well.

Its all fine and dandy to use Navigraph until you find an airport (KORD) that does not have Star Arrivals.

Something about a bug in MSFS when airport runways are not correct.

Not sure what you mean, the airport not having a Star doesn't really translate into an inability to use the data, there simply won't be a star showing in the MCDU either when sitting up the arrival and that reality would match real life as there plenty of regional aiports with no SID or STARS, my home base airport with Air Hauler 2 for example is CYXS which is regional airport in BC still taking airliners yet it has no STAR either.

I do know there are issues with airports that have runways in the scenery and even have data for it in NG but the runway is not listed within the sim, runway 7 on LEBL Barcelona had this issue.

Sometimes the NG data works while the navblue doesn't at all, Azurpoly LFTH for example had no ILS data at all in the sim, but it did when using NG.

Bottom line I see no downside at all in using NG, au contraire, of course there is a cost but imo it's worth it.

Ohare KORD is the 6th busiest airport in the world. It has at lease 23 Arrivals. If you use Default  they are all available. If you use Navigraph none are.

KORD ha, for some reason I was thinking KORS lol.  Never flown into there, I'm running a 780 gfx card so I tend to stick to low density building areas and regional airports.  But I'll check it out for sure, I just checked the navigraph charts application and they all show there though but I'm interested to find out, so they don't show up in the MCDU/FMC selections?
