The only chance we have for a realistic camera system

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

If you come for XPlane, you know the outstanding XPRealistic addon.

It adds so much in immersion and flying sensations I couldn't fly without it anymore.

The addon is here and waiting for Asobo to add missing core camera functionality.

Please vote here to put this higher on Asobo's priority list

Many thanks!

Voted, I too need SimConnect_CameraSetRelative6DOF working properly in Simconnect SDK, as it works in P3D and FSX.

Roy, the developer behind XPRealistic stated some time ago he was working on a version for MSFS but then all went very quiet. http://www.fsrealistic.com/

This seems like a bit hyperbolic. I’m sure a camera will be implemented, only patience is required.

Just talked to him, the addon is ready and waiting.

Great news, what is he waiting for if I may ask?

Perhaps if you provided a bit more detail this would feel less like 20 Questions 🙂.  So i gather he has ported the addon to MSFS but needs additional interfaces for it to hook in order for it to function. What core camera functionality that is missing is required to support the application?  Is it not possible to implement with the currently exposed APIs with additional logic?  We can not petition for changes that we are unaware of nor would we wish to as the potential fallout from changes is, as you can see in the hot topics at present, quite significant.

I don't need any camera add-on. It took some time to learn and understand the MSFS cameras, but I now have everything that I need, which is similar to what I had in P3D with Chaseplane.

Cheers, Søren Dissing

@Ricardo41@badgenes@peroni

From the FSRealistic Dev:

"FSRealistic is ready - however - it is missing core camera functionality in MFSF which we are waiting patiently ASOBO to add. Once it will happen - FSRealistic will be out.

We have opened a dev request - they are not too responsive but hopefully will listen to the community asking them to add this.

You can vote in the link above

Many thanks!"

So the news are not so good, if Asobo continues not to respond, we may never have this addon at all.

@SierraDelta you clearly never used XPRealistic 🙂

Huh?

Sounds like a bunch of sound effects - "sneezing" - that MSFS 2020 already has.  I thought we were past the let's pay for "realistic sound of raindrops hitting the windshield." stage.

Btw, I find the default camera system to be very good and all I need. It has a learning curve, sure, but it's quite immersive with a ton of options, especially in drone mode.

What's wrong with the cameras? Are you having trouble seeing out of the cockpit?

@Ricardo41 @sluflyer06 Guys, I don't know why you complain about this topic, if you think default cameras are enough, that's fine.

This is like saying "default liveries are fine what's your problem?" or "default flight planning is fine what about it?"

Again, you clearly don't know what FSRealistic (or XPRealistic) is about, so at least learn about it and then make some meaningful comments if you want.

Would be interesting if someone explained what is missing in the current camera system. Does FSRealistic need some special camera shaking possibilities that MSFS does not supply?

Having used XP Realistic I would love to have it in MSFS. It does a lot more than camera shake (which is very very subtle in the sim) and sneezing
