Hum, there are 4 phones  2 tablets and 6 PCs and laptops running off of it, BT have provided 4 units and a special phone booster as well. Will check it out when the family say they're off line!

Hummm.

You need a good steady connection when MSFS 2020 starts up. If not it'll stall. Especially on the Update screen.

If you're paying the bill - you need to take control!

If only until you get to the main menu.

That means no-one else connected to your router is watching cat videos on YT in HD.

I am really sorry to hear about this sauviat.  This sim is an absolute joy when it works, but when it doesn't it can be a bunch of word not allowed!

The way it is going at the moment, you might as well slaughter a chicken and see which way the blood goes before deciding to start MSFS.

In all seriousness though, it might be worth just renaming the community folder temporarily to give it a try.  It only takes a few seconds to name it back afterwards if it still doesn't work.
Why I say this is because it scans that folder on start up, and I had something in there that blocked the start up once (it was early days, back in September so I cant remember what it was - an early mod of some type.)

OK back on line. I use Addon Linker and I'm helping with the development of the H135 so use a vanilla setup.

I use 2 PCs and a laptop for MSFS and my wife uses her PC. Everything else was turned off.

Reset the router but the checking for updates continues.

AND. . .bear in mind on initial Start of MSFS 2020 it's doing multiple Logins of X-box, Gaming Services and MSFS 2020 (with the appropriate Encryption - as it's Usernames and passwords)

Really doesn't want Cat videos on YT playing alongside the Packet Distribution for its Encrypted Packet Sending/ Receiving.

Once "you're In" and at the Main MSFS Screen - you're good for all those other devices to do what they like.

A vanilla setup means your Community Folder is empty.

Completely empty.

Nil. Nada, zilch, nothing in there at all.

We are not a YT couple, but in our 70s there are other more refined things in life!

I have a ticket from MS, so I'll see what they come up with.

When the simulation is stuck on the "Check for updates" screen it means something is preventing Microsoft Flight Simulator to communicate with the update server.

Before trying anything, try running Microsoft Flight Simulator as Admin

·         To do so, type "Flight simulator" in the Windows search bar then select "Run as administrator" in the menu.

If running as admin doesn't immediately solves the issue, please do the following:

Step 1. Disable Window Auto Tuning Level

·         In the Windows search bar, type Command and look for ‘Command Prompt

·         In the menu select “Run as administrator

·         Enter: netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disable

·         Press enter

·         Reboot your computer

Step 2: Repair or Reset the Microsoft App - See: How to Repair or Reset Microsoft Flight Simulator part I.

Step 3: Open the Microsoft Store app on your computer.

·         In the Windows Search Bar, type "Store"

·         Click on Microsoft Store and select "Open" in the menu

·

·         Install all available Updates, especially Xbox apps like Gaming Services, Xbox Identity Provider, or Xbox Game Bar

·         Reboot your computer

Step 4: Manually update Windows 10: Windows Update: FAQ

If the problem persists after doing that, you'll need to do a Clean Install of Microsoft Flight Simulator: How to Repair or Reset Microsoft Flight Simulator part II.

Got to Step 3. Had to Reset MSFS. and all is fine for now. My setting did not change.

Just curious, what on earth is the purpose of 3 different logins, other than to make it more difficult to fly your simulator?
