I hear that you can make XP11 looks as good as MSFS

So you dont have to wait for 2 hours for the scenery to download everytime you want to fly somewhere?

I mean, I know thats something of a fetish for windows users, but surely at some point you just have to give in to the lure of being able to use your computer to do what you want when you actually want to?

But why does he need to create anything extra, when he can get "that and more" from the original MSFS purchase? I'd prefer to save both money...and time.

I do and I have TB of that data. It's nowhere near as good as what MSFS has done and I don't need need a huge HDD just to store that data.

So you've both confirmed what we all, already know.  You prefer MSFS far, far more than you prefer X-Plane.  Which begs the question.  Why are you here??

Of course they can.  But have you ever posted anything to suggest you actually enjoy X-Plane??

I think mass appeal really centers around a person buying a sim and enjoying it (out of the box).

Not tweaking, setting time aside to download this and that...flying with Luey...to get a better experience. Folk really want to spend time enjoying the sim, not time chasing after addons to enjoy the sim.

True. I've been very critical but I do enjoy the Quest Kodiak I bought a few years ago. I did enjoy XP11 a lot more before MSFS came out. Scenery is an important part of VFR.  It's always been my major issue with XP11. The rest is fine. I am actually been looking at buying the FlyJimSim 727 or 732. for me personally, when it comes to spending aircraft money, I always think about it much harder on XP11 platform when I would probably more impulsive buying on MSFS.  I also have some friends that fly on XP11 and it's fun to fly with them.

It also important, like I said many times before, for the well being of flight simulator, MSFS needs XP11 to exist just as much as XP11 needs MSFS. When both platform do well, everyone does well. So I will always support the platform in some form or another. That doesn't mean I have to become blind to the shortcoming of each platform. Believe me, I have plenty to say about MSFS as well.

Sharing our opinions...just like you and everyone else.

I am not a Dev getting frustrated every time someone says something I do not agree with about the platform I chose to "stick" with.

Its simple...Avsim has a sign-up page, and requires a username and password for me to access the available forums to share my opinion / ask questions while following their rules. Do you have a problem with that?

Hate to burst your bubble, but never once waited at all for the data to stream from the server.  I know you dont use MSFS but the image you're conjuring of how it works simply isnt accurate.

Just flew all over Ireland last night in a region I'd never flown over before without a hitch (i.e. wasnt cached).  Even touched down on the "Old Head" golf course I played at 6 years ago.  Every sand trap was where it should be and I got out with the showcase camera and "sat" there watching the procedural grass and trees blow in the North Atlantic winds.  Was pretty glorious (something the cut out card trees and grass could never do).

UPDATE: was looking at the other active thread on this forum..

Thought I'd mention that the above experience was in VR.  Thats all I ever do.  Have flown a 3 hour flight in the headset in MSFS.  No issues at all running VR in the sim. Played many hours in Xplane helo's in VR and loved it, so I do have a basis for comparison, but for me (and I only make personal claims - not expecting others to agree) I get far more immersion in the newer sim.

I mean really, you don't have to justify your presence on this forum. I would imagine that anyone posting what they don't like about XP...has it or had it at some point.

I don't think that MSFS needs any other flight sim to exist. This was evident when they showcased their trailer outside of (but during the same time) the flight sim convention in 2019. From that day on..the buzz was all about MSFS...and has been since then.

Like you, many of us will continue use multiple platforms for their strengths (Helis in XP for me), and criticize them for their weaknesses.

But the XP forum has its gatekeepers who are super sensitive...

I think @mSparks was either exaggerating (for effect) or he has yet to try MSFS for himself to have the epic experience of watching the world unfold (as it really exists) before his eyes.

@mSparks, can you elaborate for us???

A valid point.  Which is why the X-Plane community will have an opinion about MSFS and MSFS users, also.  Especially when they post rebuttals to people's opinions.  Do you have a problem with that?

Why would I get frustrated?  I have many "shake my head" moments, because it boggles the mind at some of the speculation coming from several of you.  I get frustrated when something I model or texture turns out to be incorrect, and I have to go back and fix it.  That's the extent of my frustration.  An opinion is several hundred levels below that.

In many cases, your opinions make me laugh.  Greazer's Budgets and basements comment is a new meme going around the dev community.

Of course not.  But that door swings both ways.

Apparently not, I am not the one trying to chase folk away from the forum..telling them to leave etc...you know "your" usual MO.

You need to answer that more than me, but you do...denying it now can't erase all of the rants you have given to folk who say something against XP.

Naw...I am still sticking with you being frustrated. You spend too much effort trying to deny it.

I hope that meme is at the bottom of a paragraph talking about "clouds extending to the horizon" and "water no longer looking like a blue quilted blanket spread out across the Atlantic".

If not, then that meme is probably the most interesting thing going around the dev community...for XP

Again, I am not the policing the XP forums "scolding" folk for saying something negative about the sim I "chose" to stick with...

Sorry, I stopped reading after "Apparently...".  I would love to continue this discussions with you, but I have more important things to do.

Have a wonderful day.

This can't be MSFS.  MSFS is flight sim utopia!  This must be X-Plane, because X-Plane ortho scenery is worse than MSFS streamed scenery.
