I hear that you can make XP11 looks as good as MSFS

I found this today and I tried to do this, but the file will not save. I'm assuming that I'll need to change permission setting in win 10. When I double click on the hosts file, it asks for what to open with, I chose notepad. Entered info, but it would not save. Thanks.

You're correct, you need to right click on the file, properties, security and then give full control to your account.
Then you will be able to edit and save the file.

Another way would be to setup the firewall to block any outgoing connections to lookup.x-plane.com, not as straight forward.

Staying with 11.40 will give you problems with 3rd party add ons.  All add ons are now being updated to use the experimental flight model as default.  Just factor that into your decision.

I forgot to run notepad as admin. 😀

you have to request permission from microsoft to use their computer, in triplicate, using form F4, located in room D2, after verifying your documents folder was successfully uploaded to the chinese government servers.

If you have done this already, there should be a "run as admin" option on the right click menu.

I do no like the way 11.50 looks.

As an unrelated note to the discussion, FlyByWire A32NX has recently reached 1 million downloads.

The point remains.  First of all, if they can sell 10x more in the market place than on simmarket, then I don't know why they just withdraw from simmarket, save on the commission (because it sure as hell isn't worth it when factoring in the market place numbers), and keep making add ons by purchasing 3D models and using default assets.  140 000+ sales in a matter of a few weeks?  That's breaking PMDG sales figures...assuming the numbers are accurate.  Which, if I were to be honest, are not.  Seriously, if it were that easy to make that kind of money, why don't they keep making other airliners?  They could easily make millions every year.

Entirely your choice.  Just giving you the information you need so you can make an informed decision.

As said, it was unrelated to the discussion. I really couldn't care less about that 737 MAX. It doesn't matter how much money they made, it is clearly quickly made with no aim to be something that's actually good. Regardless of our disagreements, your stuff are great and it seems to be as important as how much money they make.

PC specs: i5-12400F, RTX 3070 Ti and 32 GB of RAM.

Simulators I'm using: X-Plane 12, Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) and FlightGear.

There are 15 million gamepass subscribers, simple law of numbers implies you can throw any old (new) garbage at that (because MS has very low standards) and make money (its why I like Sony for my gaming).

"OMFG there's a 737MAX for that amazing new flight simulator everyone has been talking about thats amazing I must have it, click, enter mommy and daddies CC details, go back to Halo"

Was always my greatest complaint, MS ruined the perception of flight sim for a generation.... it doesn't matter how good XP11 or 12 looks or flies to these ppl, virtually non of them will ever even try it, let alone put the effort in required to make it a half decent sim.

You can say the exact same thing about xplane mobile.

Erm, no one anywhere ever said xplane mobile was amazing in any way shape or form.

Let alone spent $20 on it because they've been told its the best thing to happen to flight simulators in a generation.

I don’t even know freeware that has been downloaded that many times.

The A320nx has been downloaded 1 million times. That's as stated by FlyByWire themselves. Keep in mind that sales of MSFS are reputedly above 2 million so 140K for a £20 cheap and cheerful 737 seems very plausible to me although as you rightly say it's anyone's guess. Whatever the actual figure it was sheer genius. Buy an existing model off the shelf and cobble roughly together a cockpit using nothing but default assets and whack it out!😄

And you are missing out on hundreds of updated airports.

Some developers are in it purely for the dollars, and are happy with a "Buy an existing model off the shelf and cobble roughly together a cockpit using nothing but default assets and whack it out!" reputation.

If that's what they/he/she want to be known for, and they want to cater to the "It's only $20" market, more power to them.

I'm interested in making my OWN models and textures, coupled with a programmer who makes his or her OWN code, so we own the rights to all assets.  Makes it far easier to support, and no one can claim the work is not ours.

Quite right. I for one applaud your standards. My only point is that it would seem that there are still developers who simply do not understand the scale of the market MSFS has to offer compared to XP. I would like to see your work in both sims.
