There are a couple different options you can try for how REX updates the weather. Some have more or less impact on FPS. I will look in the manual then. It does not seem to come with a manual? EDIT: oh, an online manual on the website, had not seen that, a bit unusual. Will try the fps tips on page 23. Thanks! Because it's not accurate en route. At airports the winds, temps, and barometer will generally match, but en route is based on a model. Could be an issue for things like Vatsim if the sim's modeling has a wildly different QNH etc at altitude and your flight level is way off due to that. Also I've regularly had the sim show like 0 vis heavy rain at a major airport near me when the weather is in reality just overcast with rain but decent vis. Sim weather you could barely see the runway from the terminal which is right next to it. At the same time REX showed a much more realistic interpretation. I just wanna fly and have nice looking weather. As if I would compare the data to the real outside data. Who cares Lukas Dalton

I personally dont care if it is 'correct' or not, I just want access to it for airliner flight and approach planning. Since it often does not match realworld metar, how else can I get this info from the sim? That is what we need. June 28, 20214 yr Hey sorry to bring this up again, what’s the consensus on this now? as I am new to msfs is it worth purchasing or should I use unreal weather which is free? hopefully hifi chimes in the future? cheers mike

They haven’t updated it in months. So it looks like what you see is what you get. Still misses from time to time (broken will look more like scattered, etc) and my biggest issue that I WISH they would implement is locking to arrival weather. It only updates every 5 minutes (adjustable) so in a fast plane you could have weather from 30 miles away displayed at your arrival airport. ActiveSky let you put in a destination and at 30 miles out it locked in that airport’s weather. REX desperately needs that function. I have mentioned it on their Discord but that is such a horrible platform to support a product. EddieKABQ

June 30, 20214 yr rex weather never has been state of the art, where active sky was very very good. i hope they come on eventually.

I believe it is a "but your mileage may vary" issue. In the USA regions where I fly most often REX WF provides more accurate weather, and currently does not saddle me with lightening and thunder every 30 seconds. That is what MSFS default is presenting when clouds and any rain is in the forecast. When I say every 30 seconds I am not exaggerating. That issue came after one update and seemed to go away with another. But with the most recent update it is back again and just not tolerable. I am wondering now if it is a seasonal aspect of MSFS default weather, and if that, rather than updates, is why is left for a period of time and now has come back. It happened to me when I started my most recent flight on Monday, which was out of I69 - Clermont Co., Batavia, Ohio (Cincinnati area). I checked the recent most 24 hours of metars for nearby KCVG and KLUK as well as the terminal forecasts and there should not have been any thunderstorm activity, much less intensely constant. I loaded REX WF and it presented much the same weather without the thunderstorm theatrics.
