monkey plays Neuralinked videogame

Of course, Avsim`s forums are gonna go bananas over this.

The first joystick part reminds a quote from my instructor:

"Given a banana, monkey can fly better than you!"

(yeah, sure, not to me. of course, LOL)

It's impressive technically, but it's definitely questionable ethically to be using a monkey to do that.

Of course people will say that it is intended to help disabled people use artificial limbs etc so the ends justify the means, but I suspect the people performing the operations on the unwilling monkeys would be less inclined to be supportive of that argument if it was them having an experimental microchip rig attached to their head against their will.

I would have thought Elon Musk would have been smart enough to distance himself from this, at least publicly if not financially. From a PR standpoint, it's an open goal for anyone wishing to score easy points against him from the moral and ethical high ground with very little ammunition to shoot back with against such contentions.

You're a bit late.  It already has been going bananas for a few of days now.  I posted about this a couple days ago under the title of 'Thankful I'm in the Winter of My Life.'  We're up to page 4 now.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

How do you know the monkey didn't ask for it? It could be the first steps of their plan for Planet of the Apes...

I don't know what's worse:

The fact they implanted a microchip in a monkeys brain so it could play pong.

or

The monkey's better at Pong than me...

Please don't.  The other thread has gone off the rails pretty badly.

No it hasn't. Not yet, or it would have been locked.

operations on the unwilling monkeys

They were all volunteers and signed releases.

That's alright then, although they appear to have broken their NDA. 🤣

Maybe it’s Musk’s “Plan B” for Tesla. With Tesla’s Fremont plant here in Northern California, he’s always having to deal with “pesky” stuff like regulations, worker safety, unions, etc., those things that boy genius billionaires feel that they have immunity from. Maybe those monkeys will soon  be assembling his Teslas. 🤔

It'd be more appropriate for Teslas to be built by pigeons. 🤣

As I said at the time when you made your comment. "No it hasn't. Not yet, or it would have been locked."

It hadn't because it hadn't "gone of the rails badly" as you claimed. It hadn't gone of the rails at all. However, as a result of your precognition, a talent bestowed upon you by aliens from Area 51, it now has been locked.
