Keep Nvidia Control Panel on Default - always

Featured Replies

That is my advice after months of tweaking. Plain and simple, default, no tweaks to NCP. Not even changing optimzed to prefer maximum performance does anything!!! Many gaming articles mention that can hinder a computer. My FS2020 just runs the smoothest and less stuttery than ever on default... it is noticable. Now I am on a ASUS ROG 703 Chimera laptop if that is any help, but I can run on ULTRA no issues on default FS2020 aircraft and scenery at 30-50 FPS. I always have. But it is an i9 beast for a laptop....

If I may, I would like to disagree with only one setting in NCP under resolution.
If you change from "use default color settings" to "use NVIDIA color settings" the "output dynamic range" from limited to "full" you will see
more detail in dark and white. Just I want to clarify that if your monitor is properly color calibrated (most don't bother to check this) it will make a clear difference.
You don't need to buy any calibration software, it can be achieved under win10 https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/calibrate-monitor-windows-10 or you can use free monitor color chats.

747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.

There is one good setting...  I turn off the sharpening in the MSFS user config file, as it is over sharp in my opinion.
I then set sharpening to 40% in the Nvidia control panel, and that looks good to me (I use 4k).

By the way, the 'ignore film grain' setting below sharpening doesn't seem to do much in MSFS.  I leave it at zero.

Other than that, I agree, no real need to set anything else in the control panel.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

yes its the best option, especially on the latest nvidia drivers : all default .

Not even the Maximum performance

Intel Core i9-13900K | ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 4090 GAMING OC 24GB | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | DDR5 64GB 6000-30 Trident Z5 RGB | Corsair ICUE H170i Elite Capellix RGB | Corsair 7000D Airflow ASUS ROG Thor Platinum II 1200 Watt | Samsung SSD 990 Pro NVMe M.2 2TB & 1TB | Alienware AW3423DW | Asus ROG Swift PG279Q 27" Gaming Monitor | VKB-Sim Gladiator Mk.II | Thrustmaster TCA Quadrant Airbus Edition

Just followed this advice and have alot more stutters than before. So it's just another "Results may vary" situation here.

Intel i9-13900K | Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Master | RTX4090 | 2x16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5-6000 | Be quiet! Pure Loop 2 FX AiO | Win 11

Working well for me...less FPS fluctuations, so it seems steadier and smoother. I fly mostly the FBW A320nx.

I've never even opened NVIDIA Control Panel 😆

Is it done yet? When will it be released? Will it be freeware or payware? How much will it cost? Any updates on the progress? Will it work for Xbox? Can I be a beta tester? How's the performance in VR?

I strongly disagree. I have much more smooth experiences with basic tweaking than with default settings. Regardless of which driver I used.

Which basic tweaks do you use?

In Manage 3D settings:
OpenGl rendering GPU -> your GPU
power management mode -> Prefer Max perf
texture filtering quality -> high performance
Max frame rate -> 60
Vertincal sync -> On (Off in in-game settings)

You know, it's just one of those things where everybody do one thing for years and then somebody comes along and says it's all bull... I need much more evidence then what was presented.
