Where do I ask MSFS 2020 questions?

And with cloud cover and Rex textures FSX SE is superior at this time.  Without question.

Well, that’s a new one!

For the OP’s information, I’d respectfully disagree. 🙂

LOL someone needs to get their eyes checked. Not even close with the lighting and atmosphere in MSFS, weather accuracy needs work though.

The mental gymnastics some people must be doing to convince themselves of these things is hilarious.

My issue with clouds in earlier sims (default or AS/ASCA) isn't so much when you're in amongst them, then they look fine. When you're 20000 ft above them they look somewhere between acceptable (about 25% of the time) and awful..... Above msfs is far better (even with the lightning!)

These are two-dimensional sprites. They can look pretty good at the right angle in a still shot, but in motion they simply don’t look right, because unlike real clouds they don’t have any volume. You also get a massive performance penalty in creating an overcast layer, because it’s just a huge number of those sprites layered on top of each other.

When I first got Rex in 2009, it looked great. It’s 12 years later. Times have changed!

There are also many farmers playing Hayday...

Didn't realise it was a screenshot competition, there's plenty around to show quality of clouds in FS. Not seen any mods yet so we all have the same if we're running the same settings.

If you've really compared them and are still deluding yourself that p3d / fsx is better then more fool you.

That's the best you got?
Show me screen shots from MSFS with realistic edges and detail, and even cloud types for the current weather.  And perhaps read my message footer.....

That's lovely and all but ... 1/ I'm not a meteorologist and 2/ this is how p3d really looks:::

So when I'm getting skies like these....

Forgive me for saying I know which environment I would rather be simming in - although I do prefer the weather control via AS the depiction is is more often than not absolutely rotten. Flat clouds, obvious repeated patterns, square edges to patterns - that's with AS & ASCA. Can't comment if the clouds with that are appropriate to the type of weather or not, what I want is something that can look believable, whilst I would prefer it being accurate I (fortunately or unfortunately) don't have the background to tell me if it's the wrong type of cloud (that said I am suspicious of at least one of the MSFS screenshots, but it still looks amazing).

Perhaps if I had your background I would feel differently,

Amazing how many threads about MSFS turn into fights about other sims. No way people can keep a thread on topic here 🙂
