So I know how to update P3D itself. What I am still confused on is how to do it without having to reinstall all your add on's. I have a ton of scenery that is outside of P3D, some inside to include base Orbx stuff like global, vector and OpenLC inside.

For planes,  FSL is outside but PMDG is inside. 

How do I do this so I don't muff it up and wind up having to start from scratch? Thank you

Best way I have found is using Lorby addon organiser. You can disable all addons then update and either enable them all back again, or take it easy adding a few at a time, probably some will need an update.

Any that are installed into the p3d folder though, will have to probably be installed again.

Just uninstall and re-install into the same directory you have it install it. I have been doing this during the entire beta program and I never had to re-install any add-on during the process.

Be aware ActiveSky will need an update, by Hi-Fi is on top of things.. I am sure they will update soon.

FSL always needs an update too I think, so you can just disable that add-on temporally until they release the update. PMDG just works fine with 5.2, I tested all their stuff with 5.2 for months.

The P3D installers won’t touch your add ons. Full stop. The only exceptions are for things like texture packs that replace default files.

So, I imagine I will have to reactivate all the scenery that is outside the sim correct? And the orbx stuff inside the sim will need to be reinstall or no?

So if I am coming from 4.5HF2 do I need to move to 5.x and use the 5.x installers or can I use your uninstall/re-install method to my old 4.5HF2 directory?

You will need to install 5.2 to a completely new directory. It's going to live in a separate silo from 4.X with its own add-on folders, etc.

Moving from 4.X to 5.X is a different history.. I am providing advice about how to update 5.X to 5.2

Only if you update the P3D scenery module to v5.2 (doesn't look like there's much reason to) *and* you have the Orbx FTX Global base scenery installed into the P3D root folder the old-fashioned way (e.g. not in an external library).

If you only replace the client module, or if you install the v5.2 scenery module and have your Orbx stuff installed in libraries, your scenery (including the Orbx stuff) should be left unmolested.

I expect that I would have to re-initialize EnvTex if I do the Content update (because of new runway textures).

If I do the Scenery update. Will my scenery.cfg and terrain.cfg files be touched (and changed)?
