Updating to v 5.2

If I do the Scenery update. Will my scenery.cfg and terrain.cfg files be touched (and changed)?

I'd say it's very likely.  I always take a snapshot of the config files with P3D Addon Manager before upgrading so that I have a pre-upgrade archive containing the old files.  And I move just about all of my scenery out of the scenery.cfg and into the xml scenery structure to prevent those sceneries from getting bothered in an update.

I use Orbx FTX Global (installed in an external library) for textures and Ultimate Terrain X for vector scenery, and I do a manual "Sync Simulator" in Orbx Central and then cycle through a quick disable-quick enable for each of the UTX areas (USA/Europe/Canada) after installing a P3D scenery module in order to get the terrain.cfg file properly rebuilt.

I've put some manual work into the terrain.cfg to make Tongass Fjords working which I would have to redo.

Installing addons is not an issue - almost everyone except PMDG and Flightbeam installs outside but Flightbeams uses external installation but has to install inside (real annoying, these guys have Ego issues on not changing).

For those of you having problems - bug the devs for not making life easy for you.  External installs have been around since P3D 3.4 days.

So I know how to update P3D itself. What I am still confused on is how to do it without having to reinstall all your add on's. I have a ton of scenery that is outside of P3D, some inside to include base Orbx stuff like global, vector and OpenLC inside.

For planes,  FSL is outside but PMDG is inside.

How do I do this so I don't muff it up and wind up having to start from scratch? Thank you

Follow these instructions.  Written for v3 and v4 but will for for v5.2.  I follow this every time and it always works flawlessly.

Do not remove any folders.. they may contain items that you added and want to keep!

I expect this is not 100% compatible at the moment. There have bin lots of shader updates with 5.2 so Envshade might need a update.

But you may contact the TOGA team and just ask them. Maybe you get a quick respond and share this with us.

Just to be sure.

Marcus
