P3D 5.2 VRAM improvements? (I have 6GB card)

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Anybody seen evidence of improved VRAM management - avoiding hung errors/CTD etc.?

I usually use v 4.5 - can just run FSL A320 with textures turned down with 5.1 but not always reliably with my 6B card in 4K.

Anyone else seen improvements - particularly if using a 6GB card?

PS would an 8GB card from my friend improve matters a lot with respect to P3D vram?

Cheers,
Rudy

I run with a 6GB 2060. It's MUCH better now. I have most of my settings on High and Ultra. 1080p, I usually never go over 3.5 Gigs. PMDG runs below 3. That's with all Orbx Global and Regions. ActiveSky, EZDok, and RealTurb.

That sounds promising - will have to give it a go.

I have a 980ti.

Thanks Jeremy

Agree with @BostonJeremy77 - much improved.  I'm running an 8gb 1080 and had to set global textures to 1024 in 5.1hf1, can now push up in 5.2 with no issues.

I really like the new VRAM improvements. When I have v5.1 I could not use EA when at FlyTampa's Las Vegas scenery, now with v5.2 I can use Las Vegas with EA on. I might even try Latin VFR's Miami again. With v5.1 I could not run the PBR version of that scenery at all (the non PBR scenery I had to turn down the graphic setting so much it wasn't worth keeping it installed)

My understanding was the issue with LVFR was combining KFLL and KMIA which are in close proximity.  Great experiment though.  Can't wait to hear the result.

I had that issue in 5.1, without having KFLL installed. LatinvFr KMIA and LEMD were basically unusable for me with a RTX2080 8GB.

Here I am seeing perhaps 2/3 of the VRAM usage that I had with V5.1.

4K on a 6 gig probably wont work all the time. I run a1060 6 gig on 1080p and 5.2 now has freed some more vram loose

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700F CPU @ 2.90GHz (8 cores) Hyper on, Evga RTX 3060 12 Gig, 32 GB ram, Windows 11, P3D v6, and MSFS 2020 and a couple of SSD's

Have you tried using the non-PBR version of these airports? They helped in my case
