CPU core 0 used more than GPU in v5.2.

Yes, that's what I limit it to in-sim.  My monitor does not have a 36 Hz refresh rate setting.

 

Setting it in Nvidia Control Panel leads to more stutters every few minutes (and the occasionaly DXGI Hung error), similar to what I described above until I minimize the sim and re-expand it.  Hence why I think somehow Gsync is fighting against something still.

@CaptKornDog, Have you tried turning off GSync? Or even tried 24 with GSync?

I always feel these ‘manipulations’ to achieve a desired refresh rate do incur a penalty.

Yes, it results in screen tearing and still needs me to minimize/maximize the P3D window periodically to become smooth again when I start to see stuttering.  Chase Plane stuttering is still present, too, when the program is anywhere except minimized to the system tray.
 

24 Hz is essentially unusable for me, I can barely use the mouse at that refresh rate and flying is quite the opposite of smooth.

I suppose G Sync panels just don’t mix well with P3D and high refresh rates, and is compounded for some reason whenever Chase Plane’s program window is visible - and somehow on the backend the behavior temporarily “resets” when I minimize/maximize the sim.  And that this seems to be isolated from any behavior on the CPU.

Well, "G-Sync" works perfectly for me in P3D.
144Hz, limiter at 36 or 48 FPS and don't forget to tick "Variable Refresh Rate" in the P3D menu and set it to full screen.
For example, I start with the PMDG 777 from AS-EDDF with plenty of AI traffic without a single jerk.

I´m not sure what it was but since I reset the BIOS and loaded my OC Profile again everything is back to normal. 

out of EGLL with TE GB, FSL A321 SL and 100 % AIG Traffic wonderful 23 - 28 FPS and as soon as the city is behind my it goes up over 30 again. 

Really strange, interested what`s happening when the release the HF.

I suspect more than anything that its your monitor is either an older gen G-sync or only G-sync compatible and not capable of the ultra low refresh rates that current gen G-sync  monitors.

Now I would like to know what is the advantage of running a screen natively at 30 Hz with unlimited FPS and Vsync on (which gives you effectively 30 FPS) over having the screen set at 60 Hz with FPS limited internally at 30 and Vsync on as well?  In the former case, the core0 load will be less than 100% if there is headroom (keeping the CPU cooler), but the mouse movement will be jerky. In the latter case, the core0 load will be 100%, and the FPS will drop unless you reduce the FFTF value, but what about the smoothness?  SteveW wrote that the internal limiter that:

@Ray Proudfoot Could you perform the test if you have time?  Set your screen refresh rate to 60 Hz, set the internal fps limit to 30 fps, and make sure that you add the following under the [MAIN] section of your p3d.cfg before starting the sim:

FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.01

This ensures that you don't have an unnecessary loss in fps from limiting the frame rate internally. Also make sure that vertical sync in Nvidia Control Panel is set to "Use the 3D application setting". Do a test, and tell us how the smoothness feels compared to your standard configuration. That's all!

I noticed SteveW used 28 so I decided to try (and I recall there was a discussion about 28 to 31 fps some time ago), no jitters so far, but maybe a snake oil. I should have better suggested 30 fps here perhaps.

I switched my monitor to 30Hz refresh for a long time when there was no FPS limiter in nVidia drivers. But it was quite inconvenient switching everytime when I wanted to fly F4 BMS, DCS etc. I did some tests and ended up with setting it to 60Hz refresh for good and not bothering with switching anymore. Works very well here.

Yes but it won’t be until tomorrow now. I’ll try the test away from London Heathrow as it’s a killer especially with Ai. Manchester probably.

By "internally" did you mean P3D UI or in the driver?
