From an user perspective, I would hardly go back to the days of purchasing add-ons in different vendor websites.

SimMarket, Aerosoft, JustFlight, XP.org,...it is so much more convenient to have things purchased from an integrated marketplace. Did I even mention Gizmo (yikes)?

Couple that with a freeware installer suite like the one that´s available for MSFS and you are set.

Hopefully that is on LR's roadmap for XP12.

PC1: AMD Ryzen 9800X3D | Zotac RTX 5090 SOLID | Asus TUF X670E-Plus | G.SKILL 64GB DDR5 PC 6000 CL30 | 4TB NVMe  | Noctua NH-D15 | Asus TUF 1000W Gold | be quiet! Pure Base 500DX | Noctua NH-D15S | LG OLED CX 48" + 2x  Acer Nitro XV240YP 24" + 2x 15.6" Touch-screen Panels

PC2: AMD Ryzen 7500F | Asrock 7900 GRE Challenger OC | Gigabyte B650I AX | Corsair 32GB DDR5 6000 CL36 | 1TB NVMe  | CM Hyper 212 | Corsair 750W Gold | Lian Li TU150 ITX | SAMSUNG Odyssey G9 49"

Winctrl Ursa Minor Sidestick + Ursa Minor 32 Throttle & PAC - Thrustmaster Boeing TCA Yoke - Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog - Honeycomb Bravo Throttle - MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals - TrackIR - Stream Deck XL + Stream Deck Plus - Winctrl MCDU + 2 MFD's - Meta Quest 3 (VR)

Wanna know what I miss most? Fiddling with scenery_packs.ini.

At least it is straightforward to do it in XP.  I'm sure it must be necessary to get the load order correct in MSFS but I wouldn't know where to look and how to do it. I'm locked out of most of the files.

Not to mention the extra / continuous revenue that LR will have by operating their own store, and a second source income to fund further "frequent" development. He certainly has continuous revenue from the mobile platform via in-app purchases.

Beyond any features included in X12, I think that Austin needs to build upon his engagement with the community (have a public roadmap after release), and create an income stream (such as an integrated store) beyond the initial sale.

They have a marketing guy, Ive seen him in the q&a videos.

They just dont let him talk.

It's not exactly what I'd call straightforward or easy to use, but to each his own 😄

Laminar Research customer -- Asobo/MS customer -- not an X-Aviation customer - or am I? 😉

Well hopefully we won't need such a big Custom Scenery folder because the scenery will already be included in the sim as default.

I recognize that LR is engaging much more now than they did in the past. However, I think that more will need to be done (via a roadmap) when XP12 releases. I am not saying that they need to go as far as livestreams every month etc.

However, simmers want to see where things are headed (even if they don't have much input into the decision making process), and "generally" when it will get there.

If XP12 released with "some" great visuals, but still had things it needed to work on; I would be more inclined to purchase XP12 if there was a roadmap for those outstanding issues as opposed to silence on the issues.

Given that these type of sims are always a work in progress....communication / engagement is key to keep folk invested (with things to look forward to) for the long term.

Just about sums it up perfectly for me. What, when and how. It's difficult to understand why LR won't answer these questions though I am sure they have valid reasons.  What is their vision for the future of X-Plane?

This video gets deleted on the org (pretty much disinformation central these days), but pretty much answers any question you might have

~40 mins for hiring artists from eastern europe

Just after that for "make plans for what to do after 11.5X"

Re the video. No comment.

I know that listening to it requires a high level of psychological strength.

But he generally says the precise opposite of Janov and chums (which is why I guess its not allowed to be used to answer questions on the org)

Janov is a community leader over there maybe you can ask him why

Eastern european contingent of artists working completely behind the scenes, you've never seen their work but you will...

One year since that video was posted. Can't wait for the stale scenery (Austin's words) to go away.
For example as of today a snowy runway and environment in default XP 11.53 looks like this.

From what I've seen him say, they have their own agenda, and a total disregard for whether anyone else - including Austin - thinks the same way.

yup. And nothing new since besides the lighting video and a Vulkan release that rocks on Nvidia cards.

Like I said, I wouldn't expect to see that until at least "XPD-10709, XPD-10868 Plugin OpenGL drawing artifacts under Windows with Vulkan on AMD GPUs."

Plus device loss are crossed off the known issues.

Because until it works on AMD cards I very much doubt they are going to be releasing a new version that requires vulkan performance.

Thats probably going to take a while.

You can work around it

No good asking Jan for at least twenty minutes. It's nil nil.

EDIT. It's not now!😂
