PMDG DC-6 How do you enjoy it ?and what you enjoy about it?

Featured Replies

I'm really enjoying the DC-6.  The graphics and immersion are top notch.  I usually take off and fly to cruise and then let the Co-pilot take over until landing.

I love the "unplugged" feeling of the aircraft. I love monitoring engine performance and not just engaging the A/P and then go to make a cup of coffee and return when it pauses at T/D. I like that I don't feel like I have unlimited power. Right now I am at 16.5K feet and in some rather rough weather. I am slowly climbing through it by the skin of my teeth more or less. Really hope I'll be able to climb above the clouds! I am quite heave loaded and will probably level out at 19k. The attention to detail. The immersion that comes with that. It as absolutely wonderful.

I like it for many reasons. It's a superior addon.

I really enjoy navigating pre-GPS/INS. I switched the configuration to not have the GPS and I fly with VOR and NDB navaids. Constantly tuning Nav radios and adjusting course value. Pre-HSI, baby! It does have DME equipment, so not too primitive.

Flying a old, classic aircraft is part of its appeal too. The sounds. The inability to get above some/most weather. Planning around limitations instead of blasting past them. Fearing the icing monster. All of it.

This is reliving my freight dog life to a Tee; the happiest days of my life, really.

For me it is the immersion. This thing is a time machine. It just feels like a living breathing machine from the past. So much character.

This.  It's the first bird in MSFS that I really have an urge to go places in.

I assume that is an addon for Gibraltar airport?
