July 4, 20214 yr Moderator Regrettably I’m ceasing use of MSI Afterburner and RTSS. Whilst RTSS caused a DXGI crash in P3Dv5.1 when switching vehicles with the display showing I could work around that when required. But with v5.2HF1 it causes P3D to crash with any access to the menu. I can’t live with that I’m afraid. I’m now using Resource Monitor customised for my needs. It doesn’t include any GPU info sadly. Is this my best alternative or do others exist which don’t cause issues with P3D? Ray (Cheshire, England). July 4, 20214 yr Commercial Member I use NV Inspector for my basic GPU diagnostics. Cheers! Luke Kolin I make simFDR, the most advanced flight data recorder for FSX, Prepar3D and X-Plane.

July 4, 20214 yr Which parameters do you prefer to read real-time? I use GPU-Z in combo with HWinfo64. But those just read, gpu-z is more graphical, HWinfo has great detail of both cpu and gpu. They don't allow any tuning. I have an EVGA gpu so I use precisionX1 to alter voltage, power, fan curve etc... I suspect it’s the interaction between RTSS display and P3D menu system and has become worse following the latest hot fix. 55 minutes ago, kevinfirth said: Interesting, I dont seem to have any such ptoblems? I uninstalled both Afterburner and RTSS removing all traces including personal settings. Then reinstalled. The problem occurred almost as soon as I used the P3D menu system. The RTSS author is not willing to purchase P3D to test his product and LM haven’t responded to my post explaining the problem. I can only look elsewhere. Ray (Cheshire, England). I've not used it. It can be setup to display only the sensor data you want. HWinfo is great, although it presents an overwhelming amount of data when you may just be interested in a few elements. July 5, 20214 yr I use GPU Tweek II for both clocking the GFX card and monitoring the usage. Task manager does the CPU use monitoring as I don't need to monitor CPU temps etc. because I've already stress tested the system and it takes more than P3D running at max to overload the CPU. The GPU on the other hand is easily maxed out by P3D. This short vid shows GPU Tweek II, I normally have it on the RH monitor along with ASN, Task Manager, LRM and any other program I happen to have open. LH Monitor is for Little Nav Map and center is for P3D. In the vid the frame counter in bottom RHS is provided by ReShade. Ryzen 5800X clocked to 4.7 Ghz (SMT off), 32 GB ram, Samsung 1 x 1 TB NVMe 970, 2 x 1 TB SSD 850 Pro raided, Asus Tuf 3080Ti P3D 4.5.14, Orbx Global, Vector and more, lotsa planes too. Catch my vids on Oz Sim Pilot, catch my screen pics @ Screenshots and Prepar3D
July 5, 20214 yr Author Moderator @Rogen, thanks for your post. I was looking for a combined CPU/GPU utility really. I also find with EA turned off my GPU rarely goes above 40% with one noteable exception. The Xtreme Prototypes Lear 25 taxi, strobe and landing lights really hammer the GPU so to prevent that I don't use them. Daytime flying doesn't require them for visibilty. But now that HF1 for v5.2 has come out things seem much improved and I'm finding that my AF setting is working well. Seeing the CPU core usage was convenient with RTSS but I can access that easily via Task Manager. It's a pity RTSS is no longer usable for me but once I can break the habit of looking at stats I suspect not having it won't be a problem. Ray (Cheshire, England).
