Is it time (and safe) to get MSFS?

I'm reaching 20-24 GB RAM usage easily on normal flights. Sim settings are mostly ultra, though. Maybe 16 GB is enough for now and the next update. But who knows what the future will bring. It is always good to have some overhead for future add-ons like PMDG a/c, AI Traffic, ATC and a more professional weather engine like Active Sky. They all will eat up quite some RAM too.

Yes, well  the simplest thing in the world to do is check Ram usage while flying. When I see it is approaching the max, that is when I will go to 32 MB, not before then. Right now I am running all the things you suggested, and the weather from MSFS is fine for me, no worse than Active Sky which I had for years with P3D.

- Entering assigned approach upon arrival causes a u-turn (IFR flight)

This still occurs in some scenarios, but it is much easier to avoid with the WT Garmin mods, because you can go *direct* to the initial waypoint of the transition.

I discovered early on the simple work around, w/o any WT mods, is to prior to selecting your approach to simply choose your destination airport in the flight plan, then choose Direct To, then select your approach procedure after and all's always well.

I have 16 GB now in my rig and zero downsides. No stutters, FPS locked to 30 and never move, sliders one notch from Ultra. Can't see one sensible reason to get  32 GB of ram other than to make the ram manufacturers richer. It will most likely be less necessary to add ram after the update the end of this month.

Efficiency vs redundancy. I go for the latter, if the memory sticks are not expensive.

I buy for the long run. When I built my rig in ‘13, 8 GB was considered more than enough. I went to 16 GB and a very happy camper I am now that I did 😄.

And I should add that I want the capability to have several windows inthe background

If I can build another rig in a non too distant future, I will go for 32  for sure and think hard about not having 64.

If you go for 128 GB, maybe you could even run several MSFS instances at the same time and let the AI fly your own custom traffic. 😄

Or you could just turn your PC on, let AI do everything, and check back with it every other week.

Well, maybe running MFS and P3D together 😄

Vici, vidi - and I've still not downloaded it.

I cannot comprehend the incompetence of this development team in their releasing manifestly untested 'updates' that do everything but actually 'update'.

It seem pretty obvious that SU5 was a botch (read dumbing-down) to degrade the PC version to allow the X Box launch.  That smacks of pen-pushing accountants driving the agenda - which in turn leads to the question as to what kind of regime Asobo is having to work under when quality is sacrificed at the altar of shot-term financial policy.

Yours is not a post, my friend, but a heap of  wornout clichés (including of course the abominable  bean counters sourc of all evils !)  !  Download it and THEN come to give your feeling.

never went back to P3D/FSX since day1

Still don't want to, but my MSFS operations are pretty much on halt until the graphic issues I see (note that it's me, so no point in arguing, 'cause I know what I saw until July 26 and what I see now) are hopefully fixed. So maybe a wise decision not to take the plunge until we are clear what is bug and what is perception.

Repeating nonsense = more nonsense.
