"BIG" RC DOUGLAS C-124-2 GLOBEMASTER

Looks realistic in flight!

Wow,

one of the major show stoppers for me in Scale R/C has been the total disproportion between the models and the speeds they achieve.

This one looks amazingly realistic - makes me think it is made of really light material ( maybe a blip-like fuselage ? ).

Flying gliders since 1980

Flightsimming since 1992

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

I made a fancy RC model as a kid, but was afraid to fly and wreck it. So I went and bought a flew cheap and quick models to fly instead. I would be afraid of the hours of work lost if crashing that Globemaster.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

If you've ever flown in one you'd know why they called it 'Old Shakey'.  It was a miserable airplane to fly in as a passenger.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

The Air Museum at McChord AFB contains a well preserved example of a C-124.  Apparently they were a handful flying.  This example lost an engine on final but landed safely.  I always enjoyed hearing one fly over because of the distinctive sound the 4360s made.

Electric engines? Sure sounds like 'em. I agree that the rather sedate speed of this model was much more to scale than 99+% of other scale models I've seen.

Did any of you notice the UFO starting at about 3:05 in the video?  It moved from left to right across the screen.
