Bit disappointing that this is seemingly just the Midlands and the North. Nothing for the South and more importantly the South West. Maybe that will be in Volume Two.

Let's just hope they get their LOD's right! 😀

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

I'm from Leeds and the landmarks there look interesting.  Such as Bridgewater Place (tallest building in Yorkshire) and others looking good.  I already have Leeds Bradford airport from Orbx.

Potentially this would add a lot of realism to flying over Leeds into / out of EGNM.

Looking forward to hearing more.

Previously I would have shrugged my shoulders; the default MSFS scenery used to be more than good enough for VFR location-checking.

Since SU5 nerfed LODs and seriously downgraded the quality of default buildings (they're all featureless coloured rectangles once you're more than a mile or 2 away) products like this suddenly become more relevant again.

I wonder if the MSFS end state will be Asobo continually degrading the sim to achieve 144fps on ageing Xbox Series S hardware, 3PDs offering addons that replace default buildings and vegetation in given regions, and the market for those P3D-style regional scenery addons making a comeback as a result?

We know Orbx partnered very closely with Asobo to get their London scenery addon into the marketplace on launch day. Perhaps they've seen which way the wind is blowing - this time a year ago people were seriously predicting the end of their company with the quality of MSFS at launch.

Some of the modelling looks quite poor. Manchester for instance the towers in the city centre look like something from FSX

Manchester City Planning Officers certainly have a lot to answer for 🙂

Yay!  They are working on a pack for my native City, Birmingham UK, next.

Apparently it has zero performance impact as all the buildings are all just featureless rectangles in four shades of grey.

Be interesting to see how much of it supersedes what is already kicking about at flightsim.to, for example there is already fairly decent free photogrammetric scenery for a lot of Manchester.

Good to see the BMEW phased arrays and radomes at Fylingdales making an appearance though, these are a big VFR landmark for flights around Yorkshire, as well as being quite creepy when you get closer to them, knowing what they are for, as you drive over the moors. I'd definitely give it a shot if it wasn't too pricey, because it makes a change from typical flight sim UK scenery announcements, where it's usually like a glorified advert for London Tourism, as if that was the only city in the UK.

Sticks out like a sore thumb for me from a distance. Can’t see this costing more than £20 so it’s worth a try. Hope they look at the modelling, Beetham tower in that screenshot looks ugly.

That would be my concern too.  Although I generally get good performance in MSFS, the Orbx airports are the exception. I find them very heavy and there's a considerable FPS drop.   I have the Orbx EGNT Newcastle airport in XP11 and there's no performance drop. Orbx EGNT in MSFS pulls my frames down so bad, I had to uninstall it. The issue is not quite so bad with smaller fields, like 1S2 etc in the PNW, but I still see a notable drop in performance.

Having said that, I do love that the Millenium Bridge (Newcastle) is the first pic in the announcement - my local flash, hip, cosmopolitan pedestrian bridge! 😄

Of course, I got also my hometown, Frankfurt and I got Dubai, which is in Standard very sad made. Some I got because there are good memorys from the older sims.

But I don´t have realy much from Orbx. Not because is is expencive or bad made.

No it is, because the sim is so good at most parts of the world.

Also there are very good Freeware out, and for an Airport which I land and fly the next day away and came back maybe in a year I don´t need a big perfect Airport.

And over all, sometimes is less a little more 😉
