Its likely they can, but it would take a separate set of resources.

Exactly, and that is why they want them to be identical.

Except they're not identical. the PC version is running on a different LOD system now.

They can tweak different settings between PC and Console.

I'll have to make a decision then, I don't particularly want to play an Xbox game on my PC. Not that Star Citizen is an Xbox game, but they followed something similar to Asobo's plan, anyway I dumped it after a year and a half, a year and a half waiting for that one good update. Not sorry I did it.

So I guess the folks from Asobo, when they discussed  this on their Twitch broadcasts, have no idea what they are talking about....

No, you just didn't understand what they were talking about.

They were talking about the basic features, not graphics settings.

Good thing you're not, it's still a sim. They haven't removed any of the simulation features that were there already.

Your loss. I'm currently flying from CYWG to CYVR in the FBW A320.

Confirmed just now that this will not work. I just realized that when you select a Restore Point that you can view a list of software that will be affected (rolled back).

MSFS is not on the list.

They made sure to lock every escape route!

Not at all true. They have stated multiple times that the version on the PC and X Box will be exactly the same program...

But it is exactly the same program Bob, they just altered all of the parameters!  😆

Of course they can. It's called configuration file. The only difference between PC and Xbox, is the settings cannot be changed by users in the Xbox version, so they probably have only two fixed configs, one for the series X and another one for the series S.

And no, the programs are not "identical", they have a different LOD strategy on Xbox which is, guess what, even more restrictive than PC.

There's someone on the official forums still flying 1.17.4. He says you can run the launcher with your internet disconnected and then reconnect when you're in the sim. Gives a detailed instruction on how he did it. But you have to have a drive image from your old version. System restore ain't gonna cut it.

Some of us have found that it won’t start offline without first authenticating to the servers. I know it’s supposed to be able to start offline.
