I know it was there preSU5 but come on, it has been 3 weeks....I only fly with live weather just like you... These are just comparison images. I get the temperature bug as well. It looks like they're trying to fix it (again) Edited August 4, 20214 yr by Tuskin38

August 4, 20214 yr My point is, that we have been arguing for two days straight. Some saying that there was an obvious degradation downgrade/bugs and some saying it was looking good and it wasn´t barely noticeable. I am ok to be called a whinner, but , you see, I love FS as much as anyone, and not being critical is BAD for FS. It´s not whinning is, constructive criticism. Never started saying that Asobo is this or that, that Xplane 12 is the way to go, that MS is bs, that this was a fraud, .... Just was pointing out what it seemed so obvious to me that I was going nuts. Have I gone crazy???? Edited August 4, 20214 yr by Aristoteles Iñigo Bildarratz

And yet they reverted the LOD system on PC so it's no longer matching the x-box version. You are having better luck with liveries than I. I had a couple of mods that basically eliminated all of the ugly default airline liveries in place of actual real-life liveries for AI traffic. Enabling these mods now = instant CTD. I can only hope some of these mods can be updated to work with SU5, but my understanding is certain files are now encrypted after SU5 and thus, unavailable to mod. My experience with the LOD finds it is still inferior to what was working as of SU4 - with partial improvement available by editing settings in a user config txt file. Perhaps your experience is different. But TBH, none of the above issues are as bothersome to me as the now persistent aliasing/shimmering I see on many scenery objects and all UI menus. Prior to SU5, the TAA option for AA did a fantastic job, but now seems to have little effect. I only fly in VR (Reverb G2) so I have no idea if this issue exist while running in 2D mode. If Asobo can fix that issue and 3rd party developers can get their aircraft working again (I especially miss the JF Arrow) then I will be a happy simmer once again 😉

Orbx and similar scenery took generic objects and textures and applied them with landclass to approximate what a particular area might look like. In some areas they hand placed objects and textures to get a little closer to real. With MSFS 2020, we get 3D photo real scenery that is EXACTLY what you'd see in RL when flying in that area. It's not a simulated approximation of the types of buildings, roads, parking lots, parks, etc, but actual satellite images and layouts in 3D.
August 4, 20214 yr 4 hours ago, Tuskin38 said: Yeah, but you need to spend money on that. MSFS does it for tree (minus the custom buildings and internet bills) And manage scenery layers, texture overlaps, etc. The amazing thing with the current version is you get a virtual world that looks just like the actual world, all over the world, with no scenery layers to manage and no packages to buy, and no gaps. Nothing sucked worse than flying in FSX or P3D in an area that you had all decked out with custom scenery and airports, only to fly outside that area and be back in generic blah scenery.

All the people claiming it looks like FSX, X-Plane and is completely ugly and broken are frankly delusional. MSFS have acknowledged reading our complaints, confirmed the bugs and are releasing another hotfix. Who is delusional? Volumetric Lighting is Missing – This was a shader bug and will be addressed in the upcoming hotfix. LOD Popping and Stutter when Camera Panning – PC Simmers with graphics set to Ultra will experience this when panning the camera around very quickly. We are working on a new option that will allow you to customize how much off-screen scenery will be cached. We are aiming for this to be released on August 24th (World Update 6). Low Resolution Ground Texture – This is a bug introduced when we fixed tree draw distance from high latitudes and will be addressed in the upcoming hotfix. CTDs – We are currently investigating and are planning on several fixes for World Update 6. Washed out Graphics and Cloud Appearance – Attempted improvements to the cloud appearance introduced an overexposure of the world. This will be addressed in the upcoming hotfix. We are planning on a brightness slider for an upcoming Sim Update to allow visual customization of your sim. Aerosoft CRJ – We have found and fixed a bug in an open-source math library that is part of Web Assembly [wasi-libc] which was part of the CRJ and has been resolved. A new package will be made available in the next few days. ATC Incorrect Altitude – The pressure altitude has been brought in line with the new altimeter simulation and ATC should no longer ask you to get to your current altitude if you’re already there. This is addressed in the hotfix. Further improvements to the altimeter and ambient pressure system will be coming in World Update 6. Temperature Spikes – The previous hotfix did not fix all cases of the issue. This is being addressed in the upcoming hotfix. August 4, 20214 yr They are simply fixing things that they broke before. Of course, I'd rather see a software that is perfect from the start. But that is not going to happen these days. The development is too complicated and the target systems too divers. More important, the audience are non-professionals, gamers and enthusiasts. They couldn't show the same level of mishandling at a product sold to companies for professional use. But I can remember the FSX disaster, with crashes at almost any flight. The Steam version fixed that a lot, but not perfectly. And the look of the scenery was just ridiculous in comparison to MSFS. The 64-bit P3D was an improvement in terms of stability, but the default program had a garbage scenery still. X-Plane had hiccups too when it started, and there are still some CTDs to be fixed to date, and the development at Laminar Research is rather slow. A product which is sold to amateur consumers of this level of complexity obviously cannot be made bulletproof by a single company, no matter how much money they pump into it. The correct way to make such a software today would be open-source and community driven. The projects around MSFS and X-Plane show that this is far more efficient than a closed approach. X-Plane would be much less without its community, and they know. However, companies like MS own the satellite images (made with tax money) and the servers to bring them to the customer. So we are stuck with whatever Asobo delivers. MSFS will be fine in the end. Especially, if Asobo embrace the community efforts much more than they do now. But we need to be patient.
