Huge FPS loss with July 27th large update.

Actually deleting the rolling cache and not using one at all, and then deleting the content.xml and another file not sure which but similar, a search should tell you what it is, should see good performance.

But the only way you can get guaranteed optimum performance is to uninstall and reinstall and then only add trusted addons to the community folder.

I’m new msfs and I have  question regarding the update.

I noticed it installed 39gb with this new update and I obviously used up 39gb off my ssd.

is this what is going to happen with all major updates?

ide be left with nothing on my 1tb ssd eventually. Is this correct?

It would be nice if it was like P3d uninstall and reinstall new version.

thanks

mike

I had a similar experience after SU5 and hotfix. Couldn't figure out why I had very high GPU usage no matter my sim settings. Seemed that even when lowering settings to mostly medium I was still seeing frequent 100% GPU usage.

It ended up my GPU was temp throttling. For some reason ASUS GPU tweak II software quit controlling the GPU fans, so the fan was never turning on, and temps would go as high as 90c.

I re-saved my fan control curve in Tweak II, applied and saved it and problem solved - temps back to normal (NEVER above 60c) and I'm get much better performance with higher sim graphics settings than before SU5 - well except for the "look to the side" hiccup while the sim loads scenery.

Sim updates doesn't decrease space of your SSD, it only replace older files, only new things will take more space of your ssd, such as world updates and add-ons.

Yes, they are optional, the latest Sim Update was exceptional, normally they are about 20 gb.

Hoping someone can help.  I’m experiencing a large FPS loss with this latest update.  I know I don’t have a powerful system but I was getting 28-30 FPS with  moderate settings before this mega update. Now I’m getting 10-12 FPS.  I’ve been researching on google with lots of suggestions that had no results. I’ve updated my system and all programs. I have the latest Nvidia drivers. Even if I lower all graphics settings in MSFS 2020 there is no change. Frame rate stays at 10 - 12. I’m at a loss what is doing this. Everyone seems to be gaining and I’m going the other way. Would appreciate any help.
My computher specs are:

Intel i7 4790 4.0 gigahertz

32 gigs ram

Video card Nvidia GTX 960 8 GIGS RAM

Thanks Gerry

Just shooting in the dark, but could tell us about your render scale setting, what is it currently set for?

Hi. Thanks for your input.
The Render Scaling setting is 100.
My monitor setup 3 - 24 inch. Using Matrox triple head2Go at 5760x1080.

Still no improvement. Tried everything you suggested with no change.
Very frustrating.

Sorry to report that this didn’t work. I wish it did but no such luck.
Very frustrating.  Any other thought?

I had the same issue. Try this re install your video driver don't reboot and start MSFS and see if your frames are back if so then exist out of the simulator and re start it .  Close it down and reboot the computer and then start flight sim and see if you still have your frames back. There is something amiss with the sim and saving some settings and such since the last update. This worked for me and I have all my frames back.

You may try most of the suggestions given here, but don‘t uninstall and reinstall the whole sim. This doesn‘t make sense at all.

Thanks again for all the input.

I want to add some additional input that has come up.  I’m not using a resolution of 4K. I’m set at 1080. All of my settings are the same where I was getting 28 FPS before the 7/27/21 update has not changed. I’ve taken everyone’s advice with no change in the FPS.

I’ve deleted the Rolling Cache, I’ve turned off V-Sync both in the sim and the Nvidia control panel. I’ve turned off real live traffic.  Still getting 12-13 FPS. If I use the low end setting I pick up 3 to 4 FPS.  I have only added one purchase to the sim. An ultra light. Deleted it but that didn’t make a difference.

Still very frustrated.

I just deleted the graphics driver and reinstalled it as suggested unfortunately that did not solve the FPS problem.
oh well.
