Yeah, it would be nice to be able to use the sim. It sure is nice up until the inevitable CTD. Nothing spells ”fun” as having a 4hr flight end 5NM from the arriving runway. 😂🥳

Check if your add-ons are updated guys. Since the hotfixes I did not have a single crash with the top-tier add-ons like WT/FBW/PMDG and I`ve been flying quite a lot in these summer holidays.

They are updated. In fact, for me it was SU5 and the fixes that made the sim totally unusable. Before nuking MSFS I flew the DC and WT CJ4 exclusively.

This is all very logical really. Are there really people that think MSFS has not got the largest user base?

There are a bunch who seem to think that MSFS is in a slow demise since launch, even though the available data points otherwise. On Steam, for instance, MSFS has reached its best numbers yet so far in the year:

Another ridiculous thread to stir the pot ... OP ask yourself why you felt you needed to post this?  Do you want a "Gold Star" or something?

For me it is relevant data that I have not seen in these boards yet. Thought it might also be the case for Commercial Members with unreleased products?

OnAir is a popular service focusing on *for-entertainment* usage published by Aerosoft. There you are able to build your own air company, rent and buy planes in a persistent multiplayer environment.

Being allowed to have fun with our simulator may explain why such services are thriving on MSFS and not so much on P3D.

Before SU5 I had 99% of my >1 hour flights end in a CTD. After, I haven't had a CTD yet.
If you did not have CTD's before SU5 it is likely an issue with one of your addons. I recommend removing all addons, starting with the community folder but extending it to the commercial addons if that doesn't work.

If addons are ruled out, another thing could be a problem with your controller assignments but that is quite tricky to troubleshoot since you will need to move or edit the xml files where these settings are stored in.

BTW, I have no idea what "OnAir" is ...

I personally found the data interesting, even though I do not use OnAir. If you don't know it, I think Aerosoft offers a free trial for a week. I tried it but won't touch it again soon since it had so many inconsistencies when I checked it out in late 2020.

Thread title is pretty silly..."OnAir aircraft usage shows MSFS domination over P3D/XP11"🤣

Behold the great MSFS Dominator.....Supreme Dominator of other much older sims!!

Bow down to Supreme MSFS Dominator!

Well, I have already tried it in vanilla - no difference. Still crashes. But we’re straying from topic.😅

Enough posters make opposing statements without evidence, so this thread at least presents some evidence.

True, but I know from experience how frustrating it is to have those CTD's so I could not resist.

Back on topic:
These Onair statistics are not surprising but they are likely to be skewed. Perhaps OnAir is simply more popular with MSFS users than those of other flightsims or that MSFS users are flying much more since the sim is new.
I'd like to see a comparison with the same statistics from a year ago before MSFS existed. That might show whether these MSFS flights are simply extra, or whether people have moved from other sims or not. The fact that users of other sims have a larger number of (similar) aircraft to choose from might also have an impact.

Not sure why it has to be a competition.

Also the fact that MSFS is successful in at least one virtual economy application despite a limited choice of suitable aircraft is interesting and somewhat unexpected, but it is not all that relevant in the bigger picture. Virtual economies are an important but still relatively minor part of flight simming as a hobby.

Do we really need this " My sim's better than your's"  kind of posts. Fly what you like in the sim you like for your own enjoyment.
