August 12, 20214 yr So, I started recently using OnAir as a mission generator utility and have just bumped into their aircraft usage chart. The difference between MSFS and XP11/P3D aircraft is absolutely astonishing. Just some quick comparisons: Cessna : 53k flights on MSFS (Default Cessna 172) - 2k flights on XP11 (Default Cessna 172) Airbus: 57k flights on MSFS (Asobo/FBW) - 1.7k flights on P3D (presumably FSLabs A319) - 2k flights on XP11 (FlightFactor A320) Boeing: 11.8k flights hours on MSFS (748i) - 788 flights on P3D (PMDG 777-200LR) - 1.9k flights on XP11 (Zibo 737-800X) Here is the full overview: Now, there are perhaps some discrepancies with the naming of each model but, still, the popularity of MSFS on these new platforms seems to be much bigger than what I've imagined. PC1: AMD Ryzen 9800X3D | Zotac RTX 5090 SOLID | Asus TUF X670E-Plus | G.SKILL 64GB DDR5 PC 6000 CL30 | 4TB NVMe | Noctua NH-D15 | Asus TUF 1000W Gold | be quiet! August 12, 20214 yr Surprising. I guess its the rate of changes in MSFS. P3D and X-Plane update at a much slower rate while MSFS updates are on fire. Therefore I think MSFS simmers fly more frequently overall than other simmers, for example to check out a new world update. Edited August 12, 20214 yr by sanh
August 12, 20214 yr Given how different the numbers of available models on each platform are, wouldn't it be more fair just to compare total flights?
August 12, 20214 yr I have to say, I'm surprised, especially in regard to the given airliners and knowing about the state of both the 747 and the FBW A320...not nearly as good as comparable aircraft on either of the other platforms. Sure, better airliners are coming to FS2020 but, right now? Before PMDG releases the 738 and the new A320 comes on? Like I said, I'm just very surprised. EDIT: But, when it comes to C172, I'm not surprised at all. Flying down low in a C172 vs. any other sim is a completely, completely different experience. That's where FS2020 is mind blowing. Which Server? Bear in mind, this may just be that there are more people using OnAir currently from the newest simulator. I use it a lot, and I have 3 A320's in my fleet, but I don't fly them.. my AI team does. Likewise I have a Phenom100 in my fleet which is flown by an AI pilot even though that plane doesnt exist in MSFS2020. Those stats can be interpreted in a number of ways unless you can get the number of players using OnAir and their actual flying hours rather than AI hours. I don't think you are wrong about the numbers though, especially when you look on their discord and see the number and frequency of posts in the MSFS chatroom by comparison to the P3D or X-Plane chatrooms 🙂 Graham System specs... I find it very interesting to know how popular each sim is as this will certainly mean which platform will get more attention from developers going forward (even though that is already more or less clear). 6 hours ago, G-RFRY said: He`s well know for it, remember the P3D forum and the XP post check the history. August 13, 20214 yr Too bad I can’t use MSFS and add to the stats as it currently is unusable due to CTDs. Bet those numbers could be even higher! edit: got to love autocorrect. Edited August 13, 20214 yr by Swe_Richard Richard 7950x3d | 32Gb 6000mHz RAM | 8Tb NVme | RTX 4090 | MSFS | P3D | XP12
