One flight out of Milford Sound convinced me... money well spent! 🙂

Milford to Queenstown is really interesting if your flying something that cannot climb well, especially with live weather 😄

Also try the little bush strip on the coast about 30 miles North of Milford Sound, coming in from the south there seems to be more of a rise before the river that makes the approach a bit trickier.   I flew from that strip to Milford Sound in an  Anzani RIP Bleriot once, that was an interesting (and slow) trip 😄

Where can I get this mod?

https://aotearoa-creations.com/shop/msfs-addons/new-zealand-flora/

Be warned you do get a distinct stutter when panning left and right for about 30 seconds when you first spawn (once it settles down it is fine though) and up close the odd tree looks like the top has been attacked by a hedge trimmer

Overall though it changes the vegetation away from generic pine forest to something much more like actual New Zealand.  I like it. Combined with the NZ Orbx mesh the difference is huge.

I will record a new post SU5 video with mesh and vegetation shortly.

thanks!

Does this mesh affect any of the payware or freeware airports for NZ?

Effects none of the NZA ones that I use.  I think there may be some minor oddities where the Milford Sound freeware addon swaps over to the Orbx mesh but nothing too major. Though I just Bush-bash so may have missed some issues somewhere.

Here is a post-SU5 clip of the Turbo ArrowIII with Orbx mesh enabled,  Somewhere between Mt Cook and Lake Tepako .

Ok cheers... thanks Glenn... looks like I have some flying to do now that we are in level 4 lockdown ... plus a new 34 inch curved wide-screen monitor

To be sure, if I use this mod I should not use Bijan's mod, right?

Pretty sure they will clash to be honest but you never know.

You could try loading the NZ trees last by putting a 'Z-' in front of the NZ tree folder inside the community folder. e.g. 'Z-New_Zealand_Trees' or whatever the folder is called.
Do not alter the folder structure though or put it another layer deeper - A simple folder renaming for the alphanumeric order is fine though.

Basically whatever loads last overwrites the previous, so Bijans trees should work for the rest of the world but with just the NZ area overwritten by the new mod.
That is the way it works with the community folder.  I have a few mods layered like that to get them to load in the correct order, such as camera mods etc.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Good to know, I will try that 👍

Just for comparison and why default scenery in NZ looks too rounded  -- some real life NZ mountains from the air ...

I've found most of the freeware NZ airports come with 2 or even 3 versions to cover default, Orbx and another mesh as well where required.   Hats off the all the freeware developers out there making the extra effort.

I’m interest in exploring NZ more now, so honest opinions, is orbx NZ mesh really worth the money?
