MSFS crashing.

Featured Replies

Will try to takeoff from Barajas in the dc-6, towards LPPT, and report back the results.

Last night I did a short LPFR - LPPT flight - no problem. Actually I never experienced CTDs with SU5 HF2.

One thing I might suggest would be to turn off scenery streaming. Use just default scenery and no photogrammetry to check how it performs.

I only have the PMDG dc-6, the Carenado Seminole and the FlyInside Bell 47. Only default standard airports - I did not install any detailed region updates.

I also have the G1000 Nxi community / marketplace sourced update.

Hi,

I have very few CTDs now, but I had a lot of them in the past weeks since SU5 and the two HF.

But I've discovered that there are crashes that are not at all depending on add-ons.

For instance, if I fly from Madrid, Barajas (LEMD) I have always a CTD. No add-ons whatsoever: no planes (I use just the default aircraft with default livery), no airports, no extra textures, no toolbar add-ons, no nothing!

But I have a CTD every flight at about five minutes after takeoff.

I've deleted the ASOBO airport (LEMD) and even I've reinstalled MSFS, but the CTDs are always there!

What's happening?

Hi,

I'll try to.

I also suspect that the default photogrammetry at some airport or city could cause CTD.

But, anyway, it's an issue that ASOBO must fix!

Thank you for you help.

John, flying an LEMD - LPPT, climbing through 13000 to my cruise alt 15000, PMDG dc-6, streamed scenery with photogrammetry on, so far no CTD.

Landed Lisbon, uneventful flight, great joy with this AMAZING PMDG dc-.6 ...

Only other two addons as pointed out above the Bell 47 and the Carenado Seminole. Also the Marketplace G1000 Ngxi.

I have no enhanced regions / airports.

Hi, jcomm!

I think it's not the photogrametry, but... I have not the slightest idea of the cause of the CTD!

Thank you for your help.

Thanks for this. Everyone having problems with SU5 should take note. (I have taken the liberty of boldfacing some parts). I am not suggesting that all SU5 problems are caused by addons, but unquestionably many are. I myself was in that group -- had CTDs, found and removed/updated the offending addons, and voila, no more CTDs.

I find staying away from add ons is the best recipe for having a MSFS that doesn't crash or have problems.

John, I really look forward to know that you isolated the culprit !

Please let us know when it's solved you do.

Did you installed something new? New aircraft or livery? Lately I had an issue with the FBW A320 or Easyjet NEO livery, at least sims started crashing when using this combination. With PMDG DC-6 everything works fine. I havent tried yet but I think the livery might cause the issue. Perhaps you could check into that direction.

Or try to update your drivers. Nvidia has put a new driver online lately, maybe that could help?

What vidcard and driver and monitor and refresh are you running?  Are you using default driver settings?

Also I'd run MemTest for your ram, although sometimes even memtest doesn't detect an undervolt situation.

No i haven't installed anything,my only updates are from Microsoft itself.Iv'e only been flight training in the cessna,i'm at a loss because i'm quite new to PC's and flight sims.

i'd test your memory:

Also I would download and install the newest nvidia driver (if you have an nvidia video card)

That’s interesting, I was actually planning on buying the LVFR Madrid Airport today with the sale. Of course, considering the CTD issue I am having, I am hesitant to spend any more money on MSFS.

This is unfortunately my fear. Although MSFS looks great out of the box, the addons really add a lot. Of course, I disabled my addons a couple of days ago when I couldn’t get to the start screen without a CTD. In the end I needed to reinstall MSFS. I just wonder if we are asking too much from our hardware to run a program like MSFS and adding all of the bells and whistles in addition. I can’t even imagine what problems may arise when PMDG Aircraft get released. I don’t think any of us know how that will turn out.

Cheers, Pete
