MSFS Stability Reality

I think my experience is similar to HiFlyer's. Equipment in sig. I've had 1 ctd related to an overclock past what i knew is the graphic card's clock limits (If it wont complete 3dmark Timespy graphics tests then it wont work in FS either)  .My card and CPU runs the sim overclocked otherwise with absolutely no issues..(know your hardware limits by running benchmarks)  The other non hw related ctd's I've had was caused by nahimic process (sonic studio) Which was promptly removed and i do notice that i may get a ctd if i do an update and do not restart the pc after the update and try to actually use the sim immediately after the update without rebooting first.

I also use Addon Linker and set up my liveries by the region im flying in so i see region specific AI livery at the airports) So with one click everything gets removed before updating.

Apart from that i usually make a note of what's causing ctds from the community and avoid doing it before it happens to me (eg opening vfr map). After this SU ive had 1 ctd for taking a chance and knowingly flying a non approved FBW livery into JFK. Sim kicked me out shortly after arrival so i was ok with that lol !

Hmmm.... but on the other hand, in the glass is half full mode --isn't the journey the reward?  Even when incomplete it's still better than nothing? 🙂

If you're getting constant CTDs and can't use the sim, I don't think the journey is the reward. Fixing this issue should be priority #1 for Asobo. For those having CTD issues, the journey kind of sucks until the sim is up and running.

I had so many addons in my FSX… FS2002 airplanes, FS98 sceneries, tons of free/pay content. No CTD at all.

It just doesn’t make sense things like “oh, clear your community folder” or “tweak this *cfg file” or “change priorities in task manager”.

I wrote and sold an app to change app priorities called FSXAssist.  With MSFS it is no longer required because MSFS is generally GPU Bound unlike FSX which was CPU Bound.  We screamed for this switch and now we got it.

Yesterday I changed my priority to RealTime and it made absolutely no difference and so my 12 core 5900x mulls along at 25% while my 3060TI is pegged.

Cheers

You can cry about features and realism and even SDK deficiencies but you will need to drag me through the gates of hell to get me to go back to FS 101 aka early 90's.

Thought MSFS was CPU limited? I haven’t played it since su5 though so not sure if something has changed

Depends on your hardware, your settings, and the scenery you are flying over.

Happens in other software, including database software as well. 👍
