I'm not sure I would go that far.

Ive logged more flight hours in XP11 in the last 4 or 5 months than I had in the entire previous period since I bought XP10.

Now probably logging time in it similar to CSGO.

The last time I posted on a counterstrike forum was something like 2001.

Interest is there - theres just nothing much to say because "all bets are off" for the new stuff being worked on, and despite efforts to portray XP11 as practically perfect in every way, and demonise those of us who think it can be better; LR are aware there are new things needed and are working on it.

As far as new stuff, someone else pointed out the last couple of previews have been start of the month events, I expect September will be a good month for LR.

What I would do if I were LR is to release XP12 now with whatever they've got in the bag and then do monthly updates a la MSFS. It's not a bad strategy to keep folk engaged because there is always something to look forward to.

The voices to make us wait for everything all in one go that they have actually been working on for the last 2 or 3 years were louder and more influential.

So we just gotta deal with waiting. Each in our own way..

Perhaps brush up on some ATPL human factors literature. Then use that little bit of knowledge to be dangerous.

I do doubt that. There is too much water under the bridge. I'm hoping it will make X-Pane at least able to compete however. We shall see. Every month of delay is widening the gap imo. Let's hope the gap does not become unbridgeable. At least those who since August 2020 claimed the superiority of XP now accept the need for XP12.

Well the problem is that everyone is expecting XP to be like MFS in terms of scenery , which i doubt would be possible given the size of LR,  it's not  that it's impossible it can be done if they can spend and spend and spend.

The widening of gap  is only with the world updates I believe ?  really see no competition here unless one takes into account the scenery of MFS against any new XP version that is being worked on that's about it.  I think XP will go ahead

I have msfs 2020 installed and agree with all the positive points mentioned.

However, as a airliner lover, there is nothing in msfs2020 (besides the pmdg dc6) that compares to the Toliss a319 and a321, the inibuild a300 and a310, the justflight bae 146 series and many more. So for the moment, I continue to do all my flying in xp11.

I think you mean photogrammetry, I dont think anyone wants or expects that; and if it was half as good as people insist, neither would need artists to hand make (and charge for) every single airport.

XP already supports it, we imported some about 1 month after MSFS was announced, it went nowhere because it tends to look like this:

That's not what makes MSFS "look" nice. That's literally just the lighting on well made - hand made - art assets, and we already know XP12 has even better from the first preview video they did.

The main other thing that kills scenery in XP is the .... erm ... words even developers wouldn't use ... trees, and we already know XP12 has even better from the third preview video they did.

Really just waiting on the clouds now, we know from MSFS, Trusky&P3D, EC and xE that's not easy to get right, so "waiting with baited breath".

DCS (mostly) managed it so there is hope.

Herein lies the problem.

I doubt LR can do that because new releases are a revenue stream.

For MS, the additional revenue will come from paid DLC, marketplace revenue share, etc.

The sim you buy now from MS will be the same base simulator for years according to their timeline.  With all the free updates and improvements that keep coming each month.

From a business standpoint and due to team size, I don't think that is feasible.

Those DCS clouds are impressive, even more so at night under the moonlight! Best of any sim, I'd say.

XP has been lagging behind in cloud depiction for many years now. I hope they can catch up, albeit I guess cloud depiction is maybe the single most difficult (visual) thing to get right in a flight sim, so I still keep a bit of apprehension about what LR will come up with.

Revenue will also come from expansions. A large multiplayer racing expansion is due out in the Autumn and the Top Gun edition before Christmas I believe. Also Asobo is developing payware planes such as the JU-52.

You know DCS is free right? (just no linux support or I'd likely be outta here....)
