Had a look at it but from the images I felt the roads stood out from the terrain a little too much. Not sure if that was just the pics I saw, but it stopped me from pulling the trigger on it.

It looks like all the Dev did was "repave" or re-texture the existing roads to make them more noticable.  In fact that is the product description.  Not for me personally.

The function of this scenery is to modified the roads with new asphalt texture to make them more visible; and clearing misplaced trees on all motorways roads inside the area covered by this addon.

The question is why somebody in the team is not assigned to get us rid of the green roads when a one-man developer can do it.  Specially when one widely application of AI is to recognize roads in satellite or aerial imagery,... But hey! we will have the race in Reno.

It's funny to me because I like to take the 145 to the racetracks on race weekends, Monza, Spa, Silverstone, Sebring, Daytona etc etc...  From a few hundred feet up you can make out the track clearly, it's great, then you land and you are on some dirt road with foliage all over it while sitting on the front straight of the race track and you are like wait where did the track go???

A reboot seems to have cleared the problem. Now seeing road traffic 🙂

Great!  I believe in the config, it shows lockdown=1 until you reboot!

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Is that a Covid-19 remnant?  Sorry sorry I couldn't resist...  Did you have to show proof of vaccination to clear lockdown=1?  Oh man, I need to step away...

Yes Paul, or it is likely me and you will be having a pun-fest for the rest of the thread, and it will spoil the lateral flow! 😀

About the product...  After viewing the screen shots, I am quietly impressed at the difference.  I might dive in at this price, as I fly a lot around the UK.
My main concern is that it is another addon, and we all thought we wouldn't be buying many with MSFS.
If Asobo could just get rid of that green tint on the roads, it wouldn't be so bad.

The trouble is I just can't resist buying addons; I am a real sucker for them.
If they brought one out for squirrels in Bijan's trees I would probably buy it!

Bought the UK Ireland pack and liked it and just bought the Germany Roads & Rails pack too. I like these regional /global products where you just install and forget about them and if you always fly in these areas then it's worth the 10 bucks - better value for me personally than an airport which I'll only fly out of once or twice.

Bye bye Bromma, not buying you! I blew my cash on two road packs😂

By looking at the screens and video, the seller Is not getting rid of the green roads, he covers them with texture

And i"m pretty sure he used already available and free data like Open Street Map to do that

It Is something we have seeing since fs9/xplane.

The issue with that kind of approach Is that data Is not precise enough to match underlying sat imagery.

The solution Is to make the polygons bigger than the road, wich makes them somewhat unrealistic.

The other problem Is that the Road network tends to have Always the same set of textures..they get pretty much boring , and stand out too much from sat imagery

Because of the above reasos i think Asobo Is still searching for the PROPER way to give the right tint to the Road!

This addon uses transparent /translucent textures so the original ortho shows from underneath. It looks a lot like the modded roads pack in xplane11 if you've used that.

Hey, drop him a pm - he'll probably put out an update within a couple of days to include them, and that'll be two copies he's sold then, at least <grin>

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

Tinkering ? yes, but at least he tries something

as I wonder whether Asobo has really started to search how to do it. Don’t remember they have shown any interest in the matter.

You mean this thread will become viral ?

and yes for the squirrels but only flying squirrels, noblesse oblige, we are talking flight simulation here !

OT side note : I am impressed by the rendering of the railroad tracks in Switzerland an Sth Germany in WU6. Hi res imagery looks good !

As someone else said, the textures are translucent and allow the satellite images to show through.

He may have used free open street map data to make the addon, but I have neither the time, knowledge or motivation to do it so the value in the product seems fair to me .

The price is high for individual areas, but many people like myself fly mostly in one or two areas regularly.

I have several of the roads and they integrate nicely.

Developer updates often so I expect he will update if WU6 impacts roads.

For those who are just looking at video, hard to describe how well done.  But IMO very well done and worth the price.

He clearly put some time in to this.

I had to learn this the hard way, but I suggest when you read TABURET, close your browser immediately, turn off your computer and take a walk outside!
