Looking for help comparing 2 of my repaints

Featured Replies

So as it turns out, only a few of my Mooney liveries are working.  I don't understand why some work and some don't because they're all created the same way.  I have combed over the files but I'm at a loss of understanding why they aren't working.  I tried regenerating the layout.json as well.

Is there anyone here who would be able to look at and compare the files in these paints?

This one works great still:  https://flightsim.to/file/4799/red-black-grey-livery-for-carenado-mooney

This one no longer works after Carenado's Mooney update: https://flightsim.to/file/5366/slate-red-livery-for-carenado-mooney

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for posting the one that works.

Good luck finding a fix for the ones that currently do not work.

Hey thanks! I was having a problem with liveries and this could be the one. What about the Slate Red Inverted? Good or not?

Yes, Silver Red is my favorite and it is working.

Does the thumbnail size entry need to be correct?  They aren't in the Slate Red layout.json file.

The only other difference I could see in in the model.cfg file where the non working one refers to \model.01\ and the working one \model\.

I don't think so but I'll check.

I believe these issues have to do with the texture fallbacks.  The red grey and black one 8CL is working because it's based on that blue silver default one.  I'm guessing something to do with the texture.01 02 03 etc.  But I've not yet figured it out.

I've revamped a few things on the one that already worked but also added the "official" SU5 compatibility flag and updated it on flightsim.to

Hi Ryan,

after some trial and error I got the "Slate Red Livery" working again. I changed the following entry in the model.cfg from...

Quote

[models]
exterior=..\..\Carenado_M20R_Ovation\model.01\CARM20R.xml
interior=..\..\Carenado_M20R_Ovation\model.01\CARM20R_interior.xml

 ...to:

Quote

[models]
exterior=..\..\Carenado_M20R_Ovation\model.01\CARM20R.xml
interior=..\..\Carenado_M20R_Ovation\model\CARM20R_interior.xml

No idea why but it works fine again. Just like the other affected liveries.

And thanks a lot for the update! I really enjoy your liveries for the Mooney and Seminole :smile:

Greetings
Tim

YES!!!  Thank you!  Ironically I was just digging through the model files comparing their model.cfg to mine.  I didn't know the issue but was about to post what I found.  They had commented out a line on their new model.cfg that was probably leftover from the old one.

(This was in the model.01) folder)

[models]
exterior=CARM20R.xml

; interior=CARM20R_interior.xml
interior=..\..\Carenado_M20R_Ovation\model\CARM20R_interior.xml

I was close but Tim nailed it haha!  Thanks again sir I owe you a beer!

Ryan, not a big fan of the Mooney, but those repaints may push me over the edge to buy it. Well done.

As long as you're not expecting A2A level, it's decent.  I think the big draw for me was the analogue gauges - you know, back when MSFS was released all the default faster aircraft were glass.  It works with the PMS GNS or GTN too.

I've also purchased planes based solely on user repaints haha!

Hi Ryan,

I'm happy to hear that it worked for you as well! With MSFS you never know.
