How do I get rid of these butt-ugly static aircraft?

Featured Replies

This is what I get at NZQN (Queenstown) - an Asobo airport:

nzqn-traffic-02-1350.jpg?dl=1

... they also show in the (excellent) new NZQN addon by Inibuilds - as they appear to be default Asobo statics - that are NOT affected in any way by user settings for AI traffic or ground aircraft.

It doesn't matter how I set traffic: 0% - 100%, Generic on or off -  I've tried every combination of every traffic-related setting. Air traffic live, AI, none, plus ground traffic - all at various percentages. These aircraft spawn no matter what.

Worse still, those two gates are flagged as apparently empty so, more often than not, you spawn on top of one of them - or your own AI-generated traffic doubles up with them.

Is there any way that thay can be disabled??

In the past, lots of airport designers included a tool to configure these kind of things, but for MSFS it seems they have abandoned this approach an we are stuck with these statics. Although they are sometimes very well made, they might interfere with AI traffic.

Too bad Asobo did not prepare for this and make these kind of options configurable within the sim. An option like "enable static aircraft at airports" setting that both Asobo and third parties could make use of would have been nice.

Controllers: Fulcrum One Yoke | MFG Crosswind v2 pedals | Honeycomb Bravo Quadrant |Thrustmaster TCA Quadrant | Stream Deck XL & Plus | TrackIR 5 Tobii eye tracking

There are addons available to replace these default Asobo static models with nicer and more realistic ones.

they sold us realist ai traffic.

we have paid for empty airports.

Works for me.

And, btw, my airports are not empty.

Hi Michael,

Does it work with WU6 ? Some people reported invisible and blanc aircraft after WU6 ?

I didn't make deep testing, but I didn't see an change since WU6. I've seen no blank aircraft so far where I took off/landed.

This is one of my more interesting phenomena I have seen with our community.  When I fist saw these I had no doubt that a 'painter' or 'modder' would quickly provide replacement paints for these aircraft.  Well, it has been over a year and no one as yet done this which I find very strange.

I have posted about this several times on what I thought would be a very easy process but to no avail.  I have finally got it sorted but only after a lot of hacking and downloading.  Loading converters, other huge lists and liveries, selecting, trimming, renaming, copy/pasting.

I really dont want hundreds of liveries, I care not for AI real world flight paths, gate assignments, exact taxi paths, ect...  Literally I just wanted to change out the 4 default MS paints.  Yes, I finally got there but man, what a pain.

So, fundementally:

watch THIS video

  • install the 'megapak' installer
  • select only 4-5 of the A320 liveries that you like (not the hundreds that are presented for download)
  • copy the selected paints from the megapak planes to the default folder

While there are several alternative solutions (some named here) I agree: I neve thought these ugly default liveries would be more than a placeholder for a few months, at most. Those (like me) finding them inacceptable should remind MS/Asobo over and over they are not going to accept them as a long-term solution.

You know I don't really care about AI because I know they don't really behave.

What I would like to see are other player's aircraft with proper livery. I have so many beautiful planes in my Community folder, but I don't think anybody else ever sees them.

Can't we all submit to one location a list of the airplanes and liveries we have, and download a complete package of some sort that allows us to share ours and see others?

Thank you, this is what I've been looking for, I hate those default liveries.

Will this cause ATC to drop the constant reference to "Generic this aircraft", or "Generic that aircraft"?  LOL!

Many thanks to all that suggested fixes. *However* - I think all of them deal with AI traffic, which I know can be persuaded to show different models.

The problem here, is that I think the two aircraft in question are *STATIC* objects - and remain totally unaffected by any AI/traffic tweaks (or settings). AI even thinks the gate is empty and places the [tweaked] AI models over the top of them:

.. and here's me in the DH89a, being "rogered" by the yellow pointy thing:

Open to more suggestions!!!

Have you follow Mike S KPDX suggestion? I think that tip changes the static planes on the ground, I will try that myself today.

I do not know as I have never used the default ATC.  I utilize a third party package (Pilot2ATC)
