Will 3080Ti maintain 30FPS at 4k Ultra setting?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just a quick shout out to all those with 3080Ti specifically.

I currently run an i7 7700k at 4.6 GHz with 32GB of Ram and a rather lowly GTX1080 at present, with a 1080 monitor.

I have my settings mostly on high with the ground details being on ultra, I also lock my FPS at 30. I am pretty pleased with the performance and have a good experience.

As my system is coming up to five years old, I'm looking to build a new rig based around an i7 11700K and 3080Ti with a 43" 4K monitor/TV.

Would this run at ultra settings at 4K and at 30 FPS?

Cheers

Stu

Yup, stick a g-sync monitor with it and you can run 50fps variable with that card at 4k.

Yes, as said above, you should be able to maintain around 40-60fps with that card, so no need to lock it at 30 if you have a good monitor/TV.

Exactly as Ian says above.  I have a similar spec to you and have recently changed my 1080Ti for a 3080Ti.

I can't quite hold 60 FPS at 4k 100% scaling with everything at ultra (getting around 55-57 fps with a mild overclock), but it is rock solid at 30 obviously.
I really want 60fps as I notice the extra smoothness (some people don't).

Unfortunately, no G-sync monitor (yet); I need to find a decent 4k one.

For me, trying to go for 60 fps with my current (non- G-sync) monitor just wasn't quite worth it, as when it dropped down to below 60 fps, it caused stuttering.
80% scaling at 4k might just hold 60+ FPS though if you can stand losing that bit of extra sharpness. It is just that the new G1000NXi looks gorgeous at 100% 4k!

I still feel with MSFS that frame time is more important here, this is why I tend to lock at 1/3 (vsync 20 in game) framerate - which gives me 48FPS on my 144hz screen.

However at times I do let things run free if you like - all depends where and what I'm flying really.

to answer your question - yes 30 fps will be no issue with that card, it would be a shame though to limit it to just that

as mentioned a new Monitor with free or G - sync will allow your new GPU to flex it's muscles.

You don't need the RTX 3080 ti to fly FS in 4K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am in 4K with my GTX 1080 + I7 4790K with most settings in ultra +  lock my FPS at 30 + Rendering Scalling 70% (It makes all the difference in performance) without damaging the visual!

All my shots are with this setting and I can guarantee you that regardless of the plane, the airport and the weather scenario, it is as smooth as silk

The RTX 3080ti will not change the visual...  (you will be disappointed) but only the number of fps on your screen. What a precipitation and what a waste for banana peel.

Thanks to the incredible optimization of ASOBO your PC is enough to run FS in 4k

Only buy your 4k tv and try after that make your decision.

I have the freedom to express myself you have the freedom to do as you want.

I have the same system (4790K + 1080Ti), and same render scale and get the same results. No problem maintaining 30 FPS at 4K with most settings at Ultra.

So, you’re not at 4K then. 🧐

The number of fps created a fluid environment. Of course it is worth the money. If you have the money, do it. Why would you stay with old tech when you can afford new?
It’s like me saying I’m not gonna buy a new car as they both have a radio that plays radio one fluently.

Oh, and OLED, another marvel, when people are so lucky enough to upgrade to one, you CAN see 30fps. OLED really requires 60fps.

You don’t need a Ferrari to drive at 60 mph…. But, who would say no? 60mph in a Ferrari or an Opel Corsa. They both do it, but I know which one I would choose.

Oh and, if you’re dropping the render scale, then you’re not really in proper 4K. So, yeah you kinda do need a 3080/3090 for 4K

If we are changing the question to 'do you need a 3080Ti to run at 4k (scaled), ultra settings at 30fps?', then the answer is no, you don't need one.

My 1080Ti ran at 4K 70-80%, all on ultra, and in the main (outside big cities), it held a smooth 30 FPS after the performance optimisation in SU5.

However, my aim is still 4k native, 60 fps solid all on ultra.  It is quite close. And I don't want to start the 30 fps / 60 fps type argument again, but to me on my native 4k monitor, 100% scaling is perceivably better than 70% or 80%.  The new G100NXi text is so much sharper for example.

I am wondering if DX12 might just get me there.  A 10%-15% performance improvement would do it, but my expectations for DX12 are mainly rendering improvements rather than performance.  Although P3D and Train Sim World 2 seemed to benefit from it.  Some have said the DX12 hack in TSW2 is delivering around a 40% increase.

Thank you all for your excellent responses.

I didn't even think about g-sync monitors but I'll take a good look at those now.

I know this build is going to quite expensive but I should be able to get a few hundred quid for the computer I have now to help offset it.

Cheers and thanks

My question was definately Ultra settings at 4K, 100% render scaling.

I am, of course, happy to run at an fps higher than 30 but if I can get a solid 30, I'm a happy camper.

I've used P3d, Xplane and msfs at this setting for a long time with no issues, so it is MY baseline.

You have all given me much food for thought.

Thanks again

Stu
