Has anyone lost performance and a lot of stutters with su7?

The clouds hammer the fps now. I use a 3090 and I can tell it’s lost fps. It isn’t as smooth either. Still decent enough though I wouldn’t like to have that loss on a 2 series gpu…

Only with DX12 on for me.  I have my sim set with VSYNC on and FPS set to 20.  On my system with 100Hz monitor, that gives me 33.3FPS.  With VSYNC off my FPS is 50-70fps so I have plenty of headroom - I wonder if you are hitting your max FPS with this update?

Running SU7 with the default DX11, I'm experiencing a small lost of FPS and smoothness compared to SU6.

Running SU7 with DX12 beta, I'm suffering a massive 10FPS reduction with constant stuttering.

I noticed a lot of stuttering and fps down.

Before the su7 my sim was smooth.

If you limit the GPU to 20FPS, it's outputting 20FPS (max) to the screen, regardless of the display's refresh rate. 60hz, 100hz, 120hz -- the GPU is sending a maximum of 20 frames to the screen and that's all you're seeing. Monitor refresh rate doesn't increase FPS.

If MSFS settings are VSYNC ON/20 (my setting), that will give 33.3fps on a 100Hz monitor.  VSYNC ON/30 will give 50 FPS on a 100Hz monitor.

Three early observations:

- fps are lower than before SU7. I didn't take exact notes, but it's perhaps by 10-15%. That's with DX11 and the driver not yet  updated and on the 2D screen. VR not yet tested. Not amused. I can't exclude some manipulation with the settings yet, although I tried to reproduce my former ones.

- fps takes another hit by roughly the same percentage when switching to DX12. I didn't expect miracles from DX12 but this is a bit ... of a negative surprise, for no visual gain at all.

- The logbook issue has been fixed. Let's say nearly. Yes, it doesn't any longer pop up after switching off engines, but I now get regularly an additional empty entry with all zeros. i.e, KSQL to KSQL and all figures zero, after the regular entry. Can someone confirm this?

Kind regards, Michael

Still smooth on my 2080ti using DX11.  My card is capable of 50-70fps but I'm locked at 33fps so plenty of headroom on ultra

On a positive side, AIG traffic seems to work fine like before the update, according to my first test.

Kind regards, Michael

I actually have better fps and smoothness....

Was testing my FPS in DX11, New York To Philadelphia W/High-end settings. Averaging mid 80's until just before touchdown. Started recording when I noticed my plane had company, courtesy of the AIG Traffic Ad-on.

Ah, okay. Tired eyes overlooking the Vsync part. So you're not actually setting the FPS to 20, despite the "20" shown in the Vsync setting. It's a little misleading. It's effectively acting as a mode, and the in-sim setting is instructing the GPU to render 33.3FPS, i.e. third refresh rate. GPU not rendering 20FPS, despite what the setting makes it look like.

I believe DX12 doesn't work in my rig.

After enabling t I got a CTD. I restarted the sim, was prompted to opt for a start in safe mode, but I opted for Normal Mode ad it loaded, I checked and DX12 was still enabled, and I went "flying" - didn't notice any remarkable difference from DX11, smooth as silk, but, as I changed flight I got a new CTD.

After the 2nd CTD I enabled DX11 back, restarted MFS and the first flight was ok, yet again as I changed flight, nes CTD. Restarted MFS and Windows 10, and from there on - in DX11 mode again - didn't experience any additional CTDs.

Regarding the new aircraft, I did like the "drone" although thats the kind of stuff I would never seat my word not allowed IRL, enjoed the grapics, that's about all, because the Porter feels so far from reality ( yes, I did had the chance to fly in a real Porter and actually hand fly it ! ) just like most other props that when I picked the T-6 and he P51D from the Reno collection I was already prepared for the outcme.

MFS prop effects are  no different from FS9 / FSX / P3D. They vanish above Vs1, because ASOBO inherited that from the Legacy FM. I know they talked about implementing "real time prop simulation", whatever that means, so I look fwd to test that somewhere alon 2022...

I did test the METAR. Was successful for a while, then the weather stopped loading properly at all of the airfields I used for testing - probably Azure servers overload ( ? )

Main Simulation Rig:

Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti, 1 TB & 500 GB M.2 nvme drives, Win11.
