It's a little misleading. It's effectively acting as a mode, and the in-sim setting is instructing the GPU to render 33.3FPS, i.e. third refresh rate. GPU not rendering 20FPS, despite what the setting makes it look like. I dont understand 🤔 - if i have VSYNC on/60 and 25HZ what would be the FPS? and is it the best setting for 25HZ ? what is the best setting for 30fps ? Thanks Michael Moe Michael Moe

Thanks Michael Moe Your monitor refresh rate is 25hz? That would cap the displayed FPS at 25 frames per second regardless. But I'm not sure your monitor refresh rate would be as low as 25hz unless you can/have set it that low, which wouldn't be a great idea... If your monitor is set to a 25hz refresh rate, it can never display 30FPS. If you have a pretty standard monitor/TV with a max/default refresh rate of 60hz, set it back to 60hz. Then, so long as your GPU is powerful enough to render 30FPS or more, you can set Vsync/30 on and you should get a consistent 30FPS. Or, you could test Vsync off and cap the frame rate at 30FPS from the NVIDIA Control Panel and see what performance is like, and which suits you/your display best. For the past year I thought I was locked at 30fps 🙂 I could not understand why my settings had to be so much lower than others to get smooth performance! I was put right in a recent thread where it was explained I was actually running at 50fps! Thanks Michael Moe 60 = max refresh rate of your monitor 30 = half of the refresh rate 20 = 1/3 of the refresh rate For example if your monitor is 144 Hz, 60 fps setting will limit the framerate to 144 fps, 30 fps will be 72 fps and 20 fps will be 48 fps. Don't ask me why they made it like this 🙂 The best setting for 30 fps would be 30 Hz - if your monitor is capable of being set at that refresh rate. Many monitors can't with the default settings but CRU (custom resolution utility) can make it possible. For example I am able to run a Samsung C27HG70 (144 Hz) at 30 Hz with CRU. Otherwise the second best setting is 60 Hz. The best setting for 25 fps would be 25 Hz and the second best setting 50 Hz. Then 75 Hz, 100 Hz, etc.... multiples of 25. 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber
