i need monitor recommendation, thanks

I am very interested in the LG C1 monitor, the reviews are great.

One thing I would like to confirm. You are saying that it is full G-Sync monitor, however at Nvidia website for G-Sync monitors there is info that it is G-SYNC compatible monitor. (https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/g-sync-monitors/specs/)

The second thing - Nvidia website says that the minimum refresh rate for G-Sync is 40Hz, however on the RTINGS.com reviews it says its 20 Hz

To LG C1 owners - how it looks like in practice? Depending on the GPU, and the fact is 4k monitor, maintaining at least 40 FPS in MSFS/P3D/Xplane is not always that easy. And for me the proper G-Sync capabilities of the monitor is very important in choosing the proper one

I wonder about this G-sync. I had once to go from a 75 Hz to a 60 HZ monitor and it took me a couple of weeks to get used to it. Is the continuous change of refreshment rate really pleasant ? A candid question.

Hello. It is only a compatible monitor. It uses LFC below 40hz. A hardware based module is much better, if you can’t maintain above 40fps.

Below 40fps, it will double the refresh rate (LFC), which can cause black flickering on the monitor (only noticeable really on night flights). It can also cause a slight ‘jerk’ as it switches from 40hz to 80hz. So if your frames fluctuate  between 35-41, this is what you’ll deal with.

With a proper hardware based g-sync monitor, this doesn’t happen. You can go down to 1hz should you wish to.

For this reason, if you cannot maintain 40fps+ (3080,3090 etc) at 4K, I would personally recommend a LG ultra gear monitor (the proper hardware based one, there are 2, one is compatible) over the LG C1 TV.

See my reply above ^^ on a hardware based G-Sync monitor you don’t even notice….

Also remember, going for an ultrawide monitor actually sounds great but you will be losing substantial vertical viewing 'real estate.

How so?  My 27in is 2560x1440 and my 35in ultrawide is 3440x1440.  I don't see any vertical real estate lost between them.  With the same vertical resolution, the view is the same.

When I used an ultra wide, I had a 3440x1400 and also a 3480x1600 one. The x1600 one was a world of difference over the x1400 one. It did not feel 'cramped'

I’ve got an Alienware G-sync Ultimate hardware monitor, after SU7 in some situations I was dropping down to 23/24 FPS from mid 30’s, the sim was still butter smooth,I didn’t see any frame rate stuttering during the transitions

ive since removed Bijan’s 3D trees and now back up to my normal mid 40’s to 50’s FPS

for me G-sync hardware is a game changer, the monitors are expensive but tend to be top quality, I couldn’t go back

Best

Did you try them with yesterdays Bijan update. Is he aware of this issue?

I’d read in another thread that the 3D trees might be causing a performance slow down and sure enough they were for me

I'm away for a week so haven’t been able to try the update, I could be wrong but was under the impression that the update dealt with the performance issue

The latest update seems to work.

Hmm, no, both have the same number of pixels vertically but it is a wider aspect. It has 3440 pixels across as opposed to 2560

How does the same number of pixels vertically lead to loss of vertical real estate?

Personally I'd wait with that monitor upgrade until you also upgrade the PC. That little 960 is going to get crushed at higher resolutions, unless you turn settings way down.

I completely agree.  The GTX 960 wouldn't power a 2k monitor very well (ooops 1440p lol)

But if the OP does find an awesome updated GPU I'd highly recommend the monitor I recently bought: https://www.amazon.com/LG-27GL83A-B-Ultragear-Compatible-Monitor/dp/B07YGZL8XF

Be aware this is only g-sync compatible, and not gsync hardware based.

I'm aware.. you gotta spend a lot of money for native 1MS
