November 21, 20214 yr Hi all, in the previous SU version I allways had set "Sharpen = 0" in PostProcess section in UserCfg.opt, because with default setting "Sharpen = 1" the sharpenning effect is absolutely overshooted. But now, with every MSFS start, UserCfg.opt is owerwritten to default value "Sharpen = 1". Is there any way to set it to "Sharpen = 0"? I tried set attributes of UserCfg.opt file to "read-only", but unfortunately without effect. It looks, if file attributes are set to "read-only", MSFS ignore this file and use default internal parameters (with "Sharpen = 1" of course). So do anyone some tips to fix it? Thank you!
November 21, 20214 yr No need to set it to read-only. Just set it to 0 and if you don't change other settings in the sim graphics options it will stay at 0. I set mine to 0 and I never touch the graphics settings inside the sim and it never changed to 1. November 21, 20214 yr What is the real benefit? Has anyone shown anything in terms of quality or FPS? After changing to 0... see 0 change 🙂 SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.
November 21, 20214 yr Also make sure you're doing it under the top section, not the identical one near the bottom, that's for VR. November 22, 20214 yr SU7 didn't reset the usecfg for me and the eye adaptation to 0 is still not working. It seems that the sim override it. I am on custom. BTW the usercfg version is 66, same for you ? It is a tradeoff between oversharpened trees or fuzzy buildings in the distance... not sure which is better... may also depend on the lighting / time of day.. Bert

You're better off disabling it and adding a sane amount of sharpening through the NVCP or using ReShade's Filmic Sharpening. Looks a lot better.
