November 26, 20214 yr Black Friday, a good day to stay at home and play with your flight simulator. Everyone crowding the stores and going batcrap hoping they have a long enough arm to grab the last wachamacalitgizmo on the table and save five bucks. Who started this Black Friday thing anyway? I know it's been going on for several years now. I'd have to want something pretty bad to elbow my way through crowds or wait in line to save a couple of bucks. We have a Visa bank card and an Amazon store card. That's all we need. It may cost a few bucks more but the price for convenience isn't that great. Betty already did the Christmas shopping from Amazon except for my Harry and David fruit of the month club. And last week I got her a new recliner she had her eyes on. Amazon takes care of the rest of the family. The Visa bank card is for grocery and everyday needs shopping. Who could ask for anything more? Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
November 26, 20214 yr IT stared in your place Noel, the US. It spread over here a few years ago. We often copy what you guys in the US do. 😁 The lemmings are looking for the big deals where they can save a lot of money. All the stores, including Amazon, are at it now. To be fair, on Amazon you can get some very good deals, on PC parts too. Ive just seen a Logitech Wireless mouse, a good one, half price. Half price Logitech headphones too. November 26, 20214 yr Author Yeah Martin, I know it started here. With the big New York department stores I think. I recall large crowds outside waiting for the doors to open and when they did some people got trampled in the rush. I guess we are kind of old fashion. We buy things as we need them. I don't buy something I might need in the future because the price is low now and then store it in the garage and tell my neighbor Fred I got a whatchamacallitgizo for 50 dollars. I suppose Black Friday is great if you can save bucks on something you need. But I know people who buy things they don't need because they saved money on it and don't know what to do with it when they bring it home. Several years ago, when I was able to do my own yard work, a friend gave me a perfectly good lawn mower because he bought a new one at a great price. That doesn't make economic sense to me. November 26, 20214 yr I'll stay put here at home nice, and warm with loads of food. I might fly later. My biggest thing right now is taking care of a kitten whose mother somewhat neglected her.

Here’s an interesting article on how it came about. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Friday_(shopping) I grew with you though, I’ve never actually gone shopping on Black Friday, too much madness. Some videos I’ve seen of fights breaking out and people tugging merchandise from one another is a lot more animalistic than the shopping experience I want to participate in. 😂😂 If do take advantage of any Black Friday deals, I do it online so I don’t have to step foot into the store. November 26, 20214 yr Author Black Friday is not an official holiday in the United States, but California and some other states observe "The Day After Thanksgiving" as a holiday for state government employees. Leave it to the government to give employees off on the day after Thanksgiving. Kinda like Veteran's Day. If you're a veteran who doesn't work for the government or for a bank it's not a holiday for you. That has always bugged me. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. I get 5% cash back on my Visa bank card too. Additionally, Albertsons, our primary supermarket after Walmart, gives veterans a 10% discount on the first Monday of the month and a 10% discount for seniors on the first Wednesday of the month. So those are our two big grocery shopping days. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
November 26, 20214 yr Moderator Wow! Lucky you. We have no Albertsons here in the Chicagoland area... ☹️ Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

That's right, cat points. Have 500. X500 😼 There's nothing more deserving of cat points that looking after a kitten in need. As for Black Friday. I think I may have nabbed something I needed, on line, in the past, but have never done the crazy mahem store thing. I don't think the crazy store thing happens that much in the UK. And zero in the Channel Islands.
