That is the bottom of the barrel.REAL SAD!!!!!!!!!

"Thou shalt not steal" is one of the Ten Commandments, but this is small potato's,compared to what corporations and bankers steal, don't hear much on that, from MSM...

I ordered some RAM the other week. Was late. Next I hear is that the courier lost it, so I was refunded.

God knows where that went. At least on Amazon refunds are dead easy.

Stolen, lost, hidden under a bench somewhere, who knows.

Sad thing is, the extra exposure this theft has garnered in the news/on social media will encourage more people to steal as they become aware of the relative ease in doing so versus the 'reward'.

There's a lot of infrastructure in the U.S. that is poorly protected due to the sheer size of freight depots, the incredible length of freight trains and the long stretches of slow speed rail lines that the trains travel along.
I don't know what the sheriff's department named in the news report can realistically be expected to achieve. With only ~11,000 deputies covering an area of 4,083 sq. mi., this is a bigger issue than the force can be expected to tackle, plus L.A. has other potentially more pressing policing issues it needs to retain focus on.
(As a very loose comparison, the Met. Police in London has 32,000 officers covering an area of only 609 sq. mi.)

I expect thefts such as this to become a lot more commonplace, especially with the continued exponential rise of home delivery shopping. Perhaps we will see the rail companies following a similar concept to that of the shipping industry when the ships navigate known trouble spots and deploy guards to 'dissuade' pirates/protect the cargo.

Considering that many of the containers are 40' long, the simplest way to protect their contents is to have the locked doors facing one another so there's no access for easy entry!

Instead of { 40' ][ 40' }

do this [ 40' }{ 40' ]

They can then stack an 80' container on top of the two smaller containers.

Imagine Amazon owned and run by the government. I would a thousand times rather deal with a large friendly and well run private corporation than go into the Department of Motor Vehicles to try and straighten out their mistakes.

I do a lot of ordering from Amazon and others.  Always delivered by FedEx or USPS or UPS.  They always leave the package on my front doorstep and if I don't see them drive up it can stay out there all night.  But so far nothing has been taken.

As far as US Postal Service goes I wish someone would steal the dozen catalogs I get in my mail box almost every day.  I have large trash can dedicated to those catalogs and junk mail.  We must get 20 pounds of that stuff a week.  It's relentless.  One of life's ongoing annoyances.  Think of all the trees that end up as paper in a landfill.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

We live in a gated retirement community. Mail delivery is to a central set of boxes, not to the house. At those boxes they have two 60 gallon garbage cans which have to be emptied at least twice a day. And it all goes to the recycle center. The revenue from junk mail is the only thing now that keeps the postal service alive. Who writes letters anymore? My mother was a postmaster for 20+ years. Well I'm in a cottage and have a post box outside on the front gate. The other day somebody decided to jam a small package in there, followed by  rain storm of course. Luckily, despite being wet, no damage to the contents. Amazon and other couriers usually open the first door and leave by my front door, occasionally though they just leave boxes outside the first door exposed to the elements. I have quite a surprise when I push open the door to find I'm also shoving a box of my Amazon goodies.

At my previous place in the UK a certain courier, if you weren't in, use to hide the parcels in the recycling wheelie bin. 😁 The guy was quite impressed with himself till I pointed out to him that if the bin was taken away by the refuse people I'd lose my package. I told him in no uncertain terms not to do it again. He used to do it with my neighbours parcels too. And my daughter told me that it was a a common thing with that courier and that someone who worked with her had to race home fast because the bins were being emptied. 🙄

I feel your pain regarding junk mail. Goes straight in my recycling bag. Most stuff gets recycled here, paper, cans, plastic bottles, even food waste. Food waste goes to France and they make fertiliser out of it. Stuff that can't be recycled goes in a black bag, we have to buy green stickers and stick them on the bag.

We don't recycle in this small city.  I wish they did.

Christmas is the worse time for catalogs.  I get a half dozen or more day.

I'm surprised there's no recycling at all in this day and age.

I should have said the City dropped recycling several years ago because it was too expensive.  A private company will pick up your recyclables excluding glass for 38 dollars a month.

Just the two of us don't have that much to recycle to justify the cost.

Both UPS and FedEx take a photo of packages they leave and email them to me.  This makes good sense because it is absolute proof of delivery! Some of them even knock briefly on my front door.  I sit less than six feet from my front door and still rarely hear them when they deliver.
