One reason why I like MSFS.

.... is I can start fresh. I don't have to use Flight1's convoluted DRM system for installing or re-installing software (eg. OpusFSI and Reality-XP). In MSFS, simply extract the compressed add-on file to the Community folder and its done. Simple. Quick. Easy.

Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space.
Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).

Also a reinstall is very easy, when your mods and AddOn Linker is on a different drive or saved elsewhere.

Remember the days of installing liveries in FSX and P3D , those tedious days are over now with the easy to use community folder in MSFS .

Well, yes, it is much easier for us users, true. But don't forget that the "dev" of the livery still needs to put several manually adjusted .json files into the package for the livery to work. You cant just put a folder called "SWISS A320 Livery" inside your community folder and hope that it will work... So, the novel "system" basically just moved the work from the user to the provider of the livery.

Probably. I wish.

While waiting for the next update in MSFS, I thought I'd install FS Steam and a few addons in a newly configured laptop. But adding addons in FS Steam is like torture, especially with Flight1's DRM. Flight1's system in my opinion, is the worst. It's so consumer unfriendly. And I'm no spring chicken. I already have the email address, the password, and after a time-wasting search found the required order number along with the the license key file, and the proof of purchase certificate (serial number),but apparently these are not enough.  And of course, it's been some time since I last installed the addons (Reality-XP and OpusFSI) so I had no idea where to download the installation files. I downloaded the Flight1 Agent to see if I can download the install file there. Not there. However, I finally found the installation file in the website but the key file still needed to be re-activated.

To get the key re-activated, I had to create a support ticket. But it's not installing still. It's looking like yet another separate support ticket is needed. And, I have at least 2 other addons in Flight1. OMG. 😵  Soooo grateful that MSFS is designed for ordinary people and ease of use.
