Does anyone have any news on this plane for p3d v4?

Is it going to be released any time soon?

Paul

😅 I have waited too long and turned my head to Felis 742, never regret.

I've been following it's development for years now, checking the in-development section of their site for new screenshots and updates. Unfortunately, along with their A300 for P3D, I would be very surprised if it gets to see the light of day. I would definitely like to be proved wrong though.

Same here, unfortunately.

Check out my repaints and downloads, all right here on AVSIM

Their forums have "...the entire project is currently going through a review and upgrade process to bring everything up to the latest standards..." and has alluded to some update early next year, but I'm unsure if they are going to really fulfil that statement.

Their A300 is in beta testing but said that more work is needed in the programming aspect, so I don't have any expectations for that one either.

I remember watching the presentation on the JF 747 at the Cosford flight sim show and being amazed, but that was back in 2019 and nothing since sadly. I think we discussed the JF 747 on here recently and it was confirmed to still be a going concern and not cancelled.

However , yes the Felis 747 is simply outstanding if you also use the XP platform.

I never bought the Felis 747 Classic, but I've been getting feedback from some experienced users, and it's really not optimized since the author programmed it's detailled systems using LUA and that makes the add-on really heavy.

Add to it some basic aspects like ground effect affecting landings because it is not correctly modelled, and even the fact that it uses default X-Plane jet engine simulation and so can't keep up with rw 742 data, and so and so...  I am glad I didn't spend my money in the Felis 747 Classic, yet, I don't really know if there's a viable alternative for the P3D / FSX platform ?

I’ve not delved into any systems yet just done a few circuits and I’ve been impressed by what I’ve seen in capturing the feel of the classic.

I’ve only got 1 hour in the full motion classic  sim,I never got to fly the aircraft but I spent a fair bit of time jumpseating on the classic flightdeck as we also operated the type.

I wonder if the comments on ground effect are from -400 pilots? As I remember  the guys who came across to the -400 from the classic saying the -400 wing had a huge ground effect in comparison to the classic

That's an interestin insight Jon ! Thx for sharing !

Please keep giving us feedback on the Classic if you can. I'll re-light a thread at the XP forum for that 🙂

My knowledge of the classic is very limited I’m afraid, other than being familiar with the feel and ambiance of the flight deck which I think the Felis captures nicely.

I’ll be certain to ask for some more comparisons with the 400 if I bump into any colleagues who used to fly the classic.

Though sadly the chances of meeting one is a lot less now as one way or another most of the old classic guys are “gone”

The -400 has massive ground effect, and I read somewhere it actually starts coming into play at around 150ft ! , and the wing keeps flying right down to 60kts.

The classic with its previous generation wing and behaves quite differently.

JF shows the 747 Classic in development for P3Dv 4-5 , but they are more focused on MSFS products like Aerosoft so will it see the light of day????

JF have been very adament that development has not ceased, the most recent update was only a bit more than a week ago.

A big reason why the delay has been so long was that development of the systems ran into trouble. JF had an external developer working on the systems and they apparently hit a brick wall which led to a long period without much progress. In the last few months there has been a new team working on systems development, and since they they have reported much better progress. JF also seem to take a long-time bug-fixing & testing prior to release but frankly I'd rather they did that and released a better product when ready.

I don't imagine they'll drop the project that easily. The Aircraft in terms of modelling and flight dynamics appears to have already been completed for some time in P3D with the Systems being the main bottleneck; I imagine the sunk-costs already invested means that JF will go the last stretch and release. Similar case for A300, that will definitely be released when the bugs are cleaned up.

I imagine the priority for JF will be upon finishing systems development to turn it around and start to redevelop for MSFS as soon as they are able. Certainly I hope it will come out as I've been on the look out for a study-level 747 Classic for a long time.
