No pump. The water is fed in under mains pressure from the rising main, a mini heater inside then heats the water up, pretty quick. Very surprised you haven't come across electric showers before. Below is similar to the one I had in my old house. https://www.victorianplumbing.co.uk/mira-jump-electric-shower-white-chrome-available-in-8-5-9-5-or-10-8kw Where I am now we have a gravity fed shower boosted by a pump. https://www.salamanderpumps.co.uk/gravityboost.php Can't tell you exactly as its a rented place and I'd have to dismantle the bath and look underneath and the landlord wouldn't be happy. Quote Are you on a well or city/town water system? Mains water and mains sewerage. Although on the island you will find wells and bore holes and cesspits. Edited December 30, 20214 yr by martin-w

So this device is fed unheated water & electrically heated & temperature controlled water is outputted. Here in the U.S., the usual solution is having a water tank for all hot water needs heated by either natural gas or electricity. A more recent solution here is installing a “tankless” water heater powered by electricity, which heats water “on demand” instead of keeping a tank of heated water ready for use. So your electric shower & our tankless water heaters are on demand heating. So, if you have electric showers, what heats the other places you have hot water faucets, maybe a smaller water heater tank? Edited December 30, 20214 yr by Mike A clarity

We have that system too. In fact it used to be the most common system. Hot water tank in the loft, cold water tank in the loft. Mains water feeds the cold tanks the cold expansion tank feeds the hot tank. A gas boiler pumps water to the hot tank through a calorifier (coil) in the tank to heat it up. The hot tank gravity feeds Hot water to taps, showers etc. Sometimes you find if there isn't enough static head you need a booster pump for a shower though. Then we have the more modern (most common - most efficient) system, which replaces the old fashioned gas boiler with a gas combi boiler. The combi boiler heats the water rapidly and feeds it directly to taps and showers... so no tanks are required. All tanks can be removed from the loft and an awesome gaming/simming studio built instead. Or a shrine to the cat overlords. The electric showers mentioned are common because they don't have issues with pressure due to low static head because they are fed mains pressure water. And are easy to fit. Pipe layouts here... https://great-home.co.uk/a-guide-to-central-heating-systems/ "So, if you have electric showers, what heats the other places you have hot water faucets, maybe a smaller water heater tank? " It's the UK don't forget. Chilly in the winter. Most heating systems are gas boilers, either condesor boilers or direct feed combi boilers, feeding hot taps too. See link above. Our gas boilers feed radiators to keep us cosy when it's chilly and to provide hot water all year round. We have some oil fired boilers too, for example in rural areas that don't have gas. we also have electric imersion heaters fitted to the hot tank in the loft, usually used by most people as backup, or primary use if you have no gas supply. I dont think we are much diferant to the US, except we seem to have the option of electric showers too. Electric showers are one option, not the only option. 😁 Edited December 31, 20214 yr by martin-w

Once you eat one, you will experience a powerful urge to eat the entire packet. Actually, ketchup and salt and vinegar are the most common for chips. Some people do the mayo thing but most opt for tomato sauce (ketchup). My daughter is a mayo person. Some like gravy, and curry sauce is a popular accompaniment. We have good old British fish and chip shops here, where you can get your fish and chips, chicken and mushroom pies, pickled eggs, plain sausages, battered sausages and all manner of other tasty but unhealthy treats.

We always had fish and chips with salt and vinegar and most importantly, wrapped in a page from an old newspaper. I don't suppose deep fried Mars Bars are available in Guernsey, are they? Not that I would ever eat one; I'm just asking. We used to have regular digestive biscuits with a cup of tea and there was an art to dipping the biscuit in the tea without the soggy part falling into the cup. I don't think chocolate ones would work as well. Dugald Walker

Get it wrong and all that sludge in the bottom of the cup is too dreadful to contemplate.
