Got this morning to T.E. Oregon....near Portland...

You're right...I could never go back to LandClass in P3D, again.  This is a totally different flight simming experience...and am now severely; 'jaded'...

I guess that I will be stuck in the T.E. States, lol...and one thing is for sure...if Orbx produces any other T.E. State...a first buy, as soon as they post it...

I can only imagine and now DROOL over the likes of an Orbx T.E.  Massachusetts , New Hampshire , Maine...the whole dang East Coast...I'd buy like a reckless fool!

Near Portland International...   I can't go back to Global and whatever...not after sampling flying over this...and these compressed screen shots represent not at all, the clarity, color and quality-of-scene, like it is on my actual monitor. This is only a representation of what is live...

@Sesquashtoo, posting multiple screenshots might be better in the screenshots forum with a link. Those on limited bandwidth will struggle to read topics.

OK...will switch over if any further...and use a link,  and will do as you suggest, Ray.  What a blast! 🙂

There is one thing that puzzle me...if you're so much in love with VFR flying/Sightseeing, what are you doing in the P3D section of the forums? MSFS obviously delivers more spectacular visuals than P3D + all ORBX add-ons. Most of the folks here is trying to find a balance while flying complex jets (PMDG/FSL) with hundreds of AI in the vicinity, complex airport sceneries, MM setups and whole nine yards.

9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung,  AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.

Whilst I do not own Microsoft Flight Simulator, I would argue that P3D plus the right addons can provide visuals every bit as good. I fly around a fully enhanced version of Great Britain in P3Dv4.5 in my super realistic Boeing 737 and 777 , and I also do this with hundreds of detailed AI planes active.

I own both, but I don't feel that MSFS truly does deliver 'more' spectacular visuals anymore...and besides that, P3D (current) is the most best performing sim I own on my system as of today.  It gives me the best or 'most spectacular' sense of actual flight dynamics.  So,  I guess as in all things, what is more spectacular is in the eyes of the user.  I have to tell ya...for VFR now...Orbx T.E.'s for P3D (I feel) is giving a total 'head to head' run for the money against MSFS. But that is just a personal opinion at my end.  My T.E. purchases for P3D has been an amazingly great purchase and usage experience. 🙂

Cheers,

I agree, and that's with owning both.  Both are great...but with the absolute fluidity of animation that no other flight sim on my system can produce against the most current P3D, I would prefer to fly P3D (at present, today) against all the rest...and now especially since having picked up the West Coast (well the parts of it that Orbx presently offers)  in T.E. purchases.

Today, this hour....

Hi Chris,

I think that is the point though.  737/777...  That's why I use p3D.  737/777/787 etc.  If I wanted GA I beg to differ as someone who does own both that even with the right add-ons the visuals in MSFS are superior...  P3D can come close but it can't match something that was designed for sattelite imagery from the ground up.  I think that was what @G-YMML1 was saying...

For hundreds of AI, limited scenery areas with the right add-ons and complex airplanes P3D is still the clear leader.  If it was "just" for GA then why spend any more money on dated add-ons when MSFS provides Satellite scenery of the globe and an incredible GA experience.  Again, with all due respect and I love P3D the visuals in MSFS are superior until you get down REALLY REALLY low and spot the photogrammetry.

Again, as someone that owns both and is literally mid-flight in P3D right now I would also question spending a bunch on TE sceneries as well when MSFS has satellite by default "if" all I flew was GA.

Total respect to Ses for his choice but i do disagree on your comment about the visuals being every bit as good.  Just my opinion as someone jumping back and forth between the two who owns both and does back to back sessions in heavy metal in P3D then jumping in the 145 for detailed exploring in MSFS...  Not to mention TE is only available for limited areas.  What about the East Coast of the US and the rest of the world P3D doesn't have add-ons for?  I can  literally fly the Garden State Parkway and follow the road markings/exits without any add-ons, just the default base sim and a gamepass subscription with truly unbelievable visuals.  If you frequent the screen shot forum you can tell instantly the difference between the two...

Sadly I think the ship has sailed on anymore TE from Orbx .

If that’s Orbx’s decision, then fair enough.
Regardless….hopefully one - or both - of these scenarios will occur :  1.  LM release P3D v6, bringing update graphics & the TE / satellite sceneries to the sim, while preserving add-ons, or   2.  MSFS gets enough study level complex aircraft, flight models & etc that it becomes _____ (You fill in the blank).
Either way, we as flight simmers win.  I’m personally hoping for #1 above.  I’d appreciate the ability to focus & maintain just one simulator for all things IFR, VFR sightseeing, and aircraft & procedural complexity rather than bouncing between two as we are doing now.

I may well be in a somewhat unique position. What I always wanted was "Flight Unlimited Great Britain", and I effectively have that now in P3D. I have fantastic terrain graphics with ORBx TrueEarth GB and Netherlands, improved 5m terrain mesh for all of Great Britain (courtesy of my previous PlayHorizon scenery packages), a full suite of good quality regional and international airports with UK2000 Xtreme and HD, complete coverage of England and Wales with smaller airfields and grass strips (UK2000 VFR Airfields and ORBx UK airfields), a collection of updated airfields and small airports in Scotland with Scotflight 2020 freeware, hundreds of realistic flightplans for airliners and military planes across the entire region, REX 4 Texture Direct enhanced skies (particularly significant at dawn and dusk), and two of the best airliner addons that have ever been created for any flight simulator.

That is a heady combination, and not easily matched in its entirety by Microsoft Flight Simulator. The fact that I already have this means that I do not need to spend more money on a new flight simulator, and get used to the unfamiliar way in which it operates. In short......until I need something more, I am happy sitting on the fence, eating my popcorn

Totally understood!  I hoped AeroFly FS was going to be that at one point actually.  Don't argue with the best airliner add-ons being in P3D either.  No argument at all.  That's why I'm 6 hours into a flight passing over Amsterdam in the PMDG 777 on my way to LLBG as I type 🙂  (On another machine)

With all that being said if I had to "invest" in one today for GA there would be no choice but COMPLETELY understand where you are coming from...  That's why I stayed with FS9 for a few years 🙂

But this is almost the equivalent of going back to FS9 from FSX for add-ons that are already a few years old which is what some do question a bit.  What flavor popcorn you have over there, Butter?  I've got the White Cheddar over here 🙂

Again, this is all just our opinions so no one is "right"

As someone who has one foot one either side of the Atlantic, this morning I was in the U.K. and tonight I’m in Boston, and has Christopher has probably gone to bed I can say that popcorn in the U.K. is usually sweet. Toffee or caramel flavour generally or there’s a sort you get in our cinemas which is just called sweet , which is the best. We don’t normally have butter.

Savoury popcorn is slowly taking hold but not as much as in the states. I find the white cheddar popcorn in the states leaves an annoying sticky residue on your fingers.

Personally I’m sat chomping on a packet harvest snap green pea crisps at the moment while catching up on avsim

I think sweet is what we call Kettle Corn.  That is my absolute favorite...   Toffee or Caramel is our "Cracker Jack"

Welcome to our side of the pond BTW, sorry we didn't warm it up a bit for you!!  Hope all is well with you!  So close BTW, if you could have managed to get to EWR instead of BOS we could have got together!

The white cheddar does leave an annoying sticky residue but that's why we say it's finger licking good.  Oh wait, that's chicken...

If you are in Boston you should be having Chowda...  🙂

Ironically, I shop from Britsuperstore and have a lot of my favorites shipped over from your side monthly as I prefer a lot of the stuff from your side of the pond to ours!  I actually prefer your crisps (chips) for the Americans here, Chocolate, Pastilles, most of your cakes like the Tesco and M&S, I'm a huge vinegar fan so prefer your Tomato sauce to our Ketchup and have never found a good chicken with "OK" sauce anywhere on this side of the pond and now I'm craving a curry from all this food talk!  I may go make myself a nice mug of Cadbury's hot cocoa as well...  🙂

Yes a bit cold coming in tonight but very clear, not like on Thursday when I flew in to BOS the cloud was on the deck.

Whenever I go through immigration in the US and they ask are you bringing any food items in I always say no why would I , everything tastes better over here anyway.

I think our chocolate is better but your chips are probably better, with the exception of “frazzles” if you’ve not tried those you must.

Yes I used to think the curry in the U.K. was very good, especially compared to those available in the US, until I started flying to Pakistan and India , they’re on another level completely! 👌
