SP1 Technical Issue Thread

Recommended Posts

Guest Testili

Hi folks, with SP1 there is this new multiplayer bug:- Chosing Tower Controller results in "unable to initialise..."- It seems impossible to play as tower controller, since it will always cause that error and causing a fallback to the default aircraftHmm, I'm curious how to solve that :)Anyways, have fun ~*~Greetings,Chris aka Testili

I've got Core2 Extreme so I've added to my fsx.cfg the following lines only:[JOBSCHEDULER]AffinityMask=3Reading the above post it seems that it's not enough. Please elaborate (those who can).Thanks.

Having reread this post on the AffinityMask, I think I should just put 2 instead of 3. Am I right? Thanks.

>--single core>--cannot change, only one core :)For single core machines with HyperThreading though, one can use this to absolutely guarantee that FSX won't try to spawn threads on the second "virtual cpu." Although this isn't supposed to be necessary now, if I remove this entry I get "blurries..."AffinityMask=1

>Just installed the SP.. In return, FS greeted me with the>following...>>>>http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/171739.jpg>>>Any idea's?Go to the windows update site, you'll get the update for that there. I had auto update on and after installing FSX+Patch i did a restart just to get things fresh and Auto update took care of the MSXML4, so going to the update site should do it for ya.Good luck.J.

After downloading and installing sp1, when executing fsx, itresponds - flight simulator has stopped working - I re-installedthe patch, with the same result.

Attempting to run the SP1. Install failed after the following alert:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/171740.jpgI noticed that at this point, SP1 had unpacked some files and placed them onto my external drive (happens to be volume G:). I exited SP1 and shutdown my external drive, then restarted the SP1. This time it unpacked the files to F:, which has about 25Gb of free space on it. I assume SP1 is requiring the 1.5Gb free on the system drive (C: for me)? If so, there is no way I can repartition to free up that much without basically rebuilding my system, whic isn't in my plans until I do a hardware upgrade.Hopefully MS can give a work around for this. I hate programs that assume they can dump their junk in the system drive.scott s..

Bill,I see where you do get "blurries" if you don't have this entry in your cfg., are you combining this entry with a fiber fraction setting and if so what are you using?

Had the same issue... it is the C: drive that needs the free space.I was able to free up exactly 1500 Meg and it installed. It leaves behind 500 Megs of uninstall files, however, which you need to manually remove if you want your C: drive space back.

I've had blurries but it seems to only be on flat desert type ground. I flew out of Meadows in Bakersfield California and get blurries between the city textures and the mountain textures. Everything else looks great. The bigger problem is my whole computer locks up after about 20 minutes of flight every time. This did not happen before SP1. It's like the sound starts quickly repeating and it just freezes. Anyone else with this problem? Now this is not on a fresh install but really is a fresh install gonna prevent that? I'm thinking it has something to do with my memory or maybe the drivers I have?Any ideas? I have an Nvidia 6600 driver is 5.1.2001.0

Haven't lost the co-pilot, and the frame rate seems to have improved, at least things are smoother, but I DO get that horrendous 1 second pause in the action occasionally.According to Murphy, it seems to happen just before touchdown making for some interesting seconds. Not always, but predominantly.I suppose I could move the sliders down a little and it would go away, but there's something comforting about having ALL THOSE BUILDINGS suddenly appearing in Carribean Approach. Never knew before that that hotel was there!Thank you MS!
