I have the Horizon scenery and used Filemon extensively to investigate this bizarre behaviour several months ago. Adam Szofran was aware of the problem (he participated in the large thread about this at the end of last year). Since installing SP1 I haven't checked with Filemon. But when loading a flight in Japan, I saw the usual 90 second delay when FSX furiously accesses the VFR UK scenery. There was one change with SP1: the delay occurred at 6% as opposed to 5% pre-SP1. That's progress, I suppose!Seriously, I'm disappointed that Microsoft have not addressed this very obvious error. As FSX continues to access the UK scenery when flying in Japan, it is a performance issue and not just a loading issue. Those pointless accesses cause both stuttering and frame rate loss. As SP1 was primarily a performance fix I'm surprised Microsoft missed this one. It will become a widespread problem as more people use high resolution photoreal scenery.Best regards, Chris

So far the issues I have found are:#1 atc still comes up blank a lot (just like it did before)#2 Doors on a/c will open but immediately slam shut.#3 Real world weather does not work properly nowMay be more but that is what I have so far. My frame rates are somewhat better.

Grin! Seems like we've got another person now whose character prevents him from being helped, or from even understanding that they ARE being helped. Nothing really registers with these guys.Oh dear, how sad, never mind...Jaap.

This is a slider which if set at MAX will be a cause of blurred textures on some systems. I have to leave mine at medium which is ok for synthetic landclass but not adequate to show good photo-scenery.Regards,Dick BoleyA PC, an LCD, speakers, CH yoke

Patterns like that?>Hi Phil,First thanks a million to ACES team for the SP1 update. It is definitely a great improvement. Can you tell us which tweaks are still valid with this update? For ex: Buffer pools,Fiber_time etc..The only thing I noticed is that when looking far away, textures are too much blurred but they become crisp and clear as I close in.My detail radius is already at max,I don't know what to do next.RegardsYves Lefevre

Before I get to the tech element of my post, can I just say thanks to Phil and the team at ACES for this patch. It's given some life back to my 'old' PC (AMD 64 3700, Radeon X800-256MB, 1.5 GB RAM). I really appreciate the communication from Phil and ACES - I get the impression that the combination of input from Phil and help from members of this forum means that we will be able to work our way around most issues that may turn up. The only issues I have been having with SP1 are the micro-stutters (every few seconds), and the blurries. I'm not so bothered about the blurries at the moment given the spec. of my machine but the stutters were beginning to annoy me, particularly since the increase in FPS produces a much smoother feeling of flight between stutters. I spent most of last night tweaking away like mad. I began by setting every slider to zero/minimal and then adjusted one slider by one notch and then checked for the presence of stutters. Once I had the sliders in one tab pane set to where I liked them (given the limits of my PC), I moved onto the next one. I did notice that the stutters are not present on a minimal configuration and start to appear as you increase demands on the PC.After much tweaking, I had got the sliders to where I reckoned was a reasonable compromise (mostly mid to high settings but not maxed), I still had an FPS of around 24 (capped and stable). I then started playing around with fsx.cfg by setting the following values:FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.4TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=40{BufferPools} - should be square bracketsPoolSize=5000000This seems to have removed most of the stutter effect (you get an occasional one but nothing like the behaviour I had before). I think the PoolSize value is the significant variable but I have run this so many times I'm getting dizzy. I would be interested to know if using the PoolSize setting helps anyone else. While I'm here, does anyone know how to reduce/remove the internal reflections present in the VC cockpit window of the default Airbus? They are a bit strong for my liking...EDIT - I forgot to mention that I have set SWAP_WAIT_TIMEOUT to 1440 (60 x 24fps) since this was a second suspect variable. I am wondering if setting it to 24-48 is causing a forced update every 1-2 seconds depending upon your FPS limit (e.g. 48/24fps = every 2 seconds). I don't have any firm proof of this however. David

>I am getting blurries. I tried deleting my fsx.cfg and let>it rebuild. I had done the tweaks from>http://www.topomaps.fox-fam.com/?page_id=41 including the>texture resize. Are these no longer valid?I'm particularly interested in this one:QUOTE:Matt Fox noticed a few days after FSX release that the sim tries to load a huge variety of different tree models at random when it renders forests. This places a large strain on current systems. He created an alternate AutogenDescriptions.spb file that trims down the number of choices FSX has when drawing a forest. This made a huge difference in FPS for me. To apply this tweak, download the file here: AutogenDescriptions.spb Now go to your FSX/Autogen folder and rename the default AutogenDecriptions.spb file to AutogenDescriptions.bak for backup purposes. Now copy Matt

Roll back to your pre-SP1 configuration. I know this answer doesn't solve much of the problem (sad grin...), but since the popping stuff is a consequence of a deliberately made trade-off by ACE, there are only two options: either accept the pops and enjoy increased performance, or accept the lack of increased performance and enjoy a pop-free sim.Be well!Jaap Verduijn.

Having successfully installed SP1 (and FSUIPC latest version), i now find that FSX will start and run normally unless I have plugged in my Logitech Wingman joystick into a USB port. If the joystick is plugged in then FSX starts to load then completely shuts down. On the other hand, FSX starts perfectly without the joystick and will recognise the device if it is plugged into the USB port after FSX has loaded. Any ideas abou what might be happening ee?ThanksSimon

My 2 cents:After applying SP1, I got many display driver crashes while trying to make 2D panels appear on screen (F10 or shift-1, -2, -3...)Fixed it by scaling down from NVIDIA Beta 158.43beta (or Guru3D 160.03)to standard 158.18WHQL.I now can happily confirm the 15-20% SP1 FPS bonus.--HuguesIntel 6600 core2 duo2 x 8800GTX SLIVista32

When I'm in 2D cockpit view and hit the 'W' key twice to get the forward view with no cockpit visible, then hit 'Shift-6', I used to be able to get a full right side exterior view without seeing my aircraft - now I see the interior of my aircraft. Did the 2D cockpit views get changed in SP1, or did I lose one of my tweak settings when I reinstalled FSX prior to the SP1 update.Gary

I've lost my jetways following SP1 (although a small price to pay for all the other goodness). Anyone know how to get them back? I see neither the gangway nor the ground markings.

In the Display config. settings panel, select the Scenery tab and check that you have set the Scenery Complexity level to at least 'Dense'. If it is set to Normal, the Jetways (and relevant ground markings) will not appear.
