Evolution of Flight Sim

Just stumbled across this cool video, always makes me humble considering what I see today when flying in MSFS. And I even started with FS4 on an amber monitor … Thanks, JoylessTunic738

Thanks for sharing! That was an awesome video.

Hah, remembering the old wire frame FS.

That's when I started simming. Can we imagine how it will look in 20 years from now?

Most of what is said on the Internet may be the same thing they shovel on the regular basis at the local barn.

I was multi-processing too. No more.

Simming since 1981 -  [email protected] GHz with 16 GB of RAM and a 1080 with 8 GB VRAM running a 27" @ 2560*1440 - Windows 10 - Warthog HOTAS - MFG pedals - MSFS Standard version with Steam

The ironic part of this story is that FS4 was the last version of Microsoft Flight Simulator prior to FSX that I actually remember with fondness. All of the versions in between were (IMO) a bit of a mess as far as graphics are concerned.

From the age of four i wanted to be a pilot.
My first contact with flightsim was FS 3.0, Coming from not even knowing that planes had flaps, and learning about all the lights and instruments was the biggest kick ever for me. A wonderful new world opened up to discover.
Every new version since never brought back that first kick however more beautiful the newer versions were.

By the way; FS 3.0 is now abandonware, you can download it for free here; https://www.abandonwaredos.com/abandonware-game.php?abandonware=Microsoft+Flight+Simulator+3.0&gid=1977
I haven't yet tried this myself so i don't know if this is save, or even working.
